Before the game at FCB, Lazio supporters caused trouble with fascist expressions.

The background is historical.

Now they face consequences.

Munich – Fascist ultras set the tone in the organized fan scene of Lazio Rome.

They call themselves the “Indomitable” (“Irriducibili”).

In recent years they have repeatedly caused a stir with xenophobic actions.

Now she took her club's Champions League game against FC Bayern Munich to the Bavarian capital.

A handful of fans caused a scandal there: They sang old fascist slogans in the Hofbräuhaus.

They probably didn't choose this restaurant without reason.

Uproar in Munich: Fans of FCB opponent Lazio Rome sing a fascist song

On the occasion of the premier class guest appearance, some of the Irriducibili traveled to Munich early.

As a video circulating on the X platform (formerly Twitter) shows, numerous Lazio supporters were in the well-known Schwemme in Munich's Hofbräuhaus on Monday evening (March 4th).

They caused a scandal.

There they chanted “Duce, duce, duce!”, which translates to “leader, leader, leader!” This is part of a fascist song in honor of the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini.

Some fans from Curva Nord repeat this call again and again, even after goals.

Mussolini founded the fascist movement in the first half of the 20th century and is considered its “Duce”.

In addition, Mussolini, who died in 1945, was even a member of the club.

Lazio supporter arrested before Bayern game

According to the Italian newspaper

La Repubblica,

almost 100 Roman fans were in the Hofbräuhaus.

As the video shows, they also sang about the so-called “Camicie nere”, in German “black shirts”.

These were the members of paramilitary militias of Mussolini's fascist regime.

According to the Munich police, an 18-year-old tourist from Italy, presumably a Lazio supporter, was arrested.

He had previously shown the forbidden “Hitler salute”, but has now been released again.

The Munich criminal police are continuing to investigate the entire matter.

Uproar in the Hofbräuhaus: Lazio fans probably honor Mussolini before the Bayern game

The fact that the man presented the gesture in the Hofbräuhaus is probably no coincidence.

Finally, Adolf Hitler founded the NSDAP there on February 24, 1920.

He adopted the salute, in which the right arm is stretched straight upwards, slightly modified from Mussolini.

He had adopted the gesture known as “Saluto romano”, or “Roman greeting”, for fascist purposes.

The Lazio fans therefore deliberately chose the inn on the eve of the game against FC Bayern in order to announce fascist slogans there.

In general, Mussolini served Hitler as a political and ideological role model for a long time.

The two even cooperated during World War II.

“A shame”: Roman city council reacts to fascism scandal in Munich

At the request of the German Press Agency

(dpa)

, the Hofbräuhaus said

that the police had accompanied a group of Lazio fans throughout the evening.

“We had no knowledge of any fascist songs that were being sung, nor did we notice any corresponding gestures from the guests.

Otherwise we would definitely have intervened,” the statement said.

The Roman city councilor for sports, Alessandro Onorato, strongly condemned the event.

“The pictures of Lazio fans in Munich for the Champions League game, singing in honor of the Duce, showing the Roman salute, are a disgrace.

They are dragging the team, all the fans and the city of Rome into the dirt,” the

dpa

quoted him as saying .

The Munich supporters, on the other hand, were able to look forward to an announcement from Thomas Müller before the round of 16 duel with “Le Aquile”.

The veteran is relying on the support of the Bayern fans in the showdown against Lazio.
