Sublime images that make you want to see more bike races filmed by drone.
The team time trial of the third stage of this Paris-Nice 2024 was talked about, not particularly for its result, but for its extraordinary images, literally.
The competition used drones to film the runners, a historic first for an Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) race, which organizes the most prestigious cycling races, including the Tour de France.
Thanks to the images filmed on television, and reposted on the official X account (formerly Twitter) of Paris-Nice, the public flies over the race from above, as if they were a bird above the runners, and perhaps better reflects their speed, which is difficult to demonstrate by the usual motorbikes and helicopters used.

This is not the first time that sporting competitions have been enhanced by the use of a drone.
In 2022, the Kitzbühel ski descent also benefited from this camera system.
