Maria Sharapova admits that she took a prohibited substance/Sports1
Tennis legend Maria Sharapova looked unrecognizable when she was photographed at Paris Fashion Week in a "stylish outfit," French media reports.
The former tennis player took the sports world by storm when she won the Wimbledon tournament at the age of just 17, defeating reigning champion Serena Williams in the final in 2004.
Sharapova won four more Grand Slam tournaments before retiring in 2020 and has since focused mainly on business and fashion.

Attending Paris Fashion Week for a Valentino event, the 36-year-old former tennis player stunned the French capital with her elegant look, ditching the blonde locks from her days as a tennis player.
During her crazy time on the court, Sharapova became the first Russian player to win all four Grand Slams, and is the third youngest to win Wimbledon.

Her career was marred by a failed drug test in 2016, and she was suspended for two years after she was found to have consumed meldonium, a banned substance earlier that year, ahead of the Australian Open.
Her suspension was later reduced to 15 months after she was found to have taken the drug as advised by her doctor, and Sharapova returned to competition in April 2017 before winning the Tianjin Open seven months later.
After struggling with chronic shoulder problems for several years, Sharapova eventually announced her retirement in 2020, sharing an emotional farewell message with her followers.
Since retiring four years ago, Sharapova has given birth to a son, Theodore, and is now devoting herself to her investment portfolio, which includes holdings in sports brands such as the UFC and the health technology company Therabody.
