Arsenal have come under fire in England for failing to stop an anti-Israel (known in England as "pro-Palestinian") demonstration - after Jewish fans said they felt threatened and had to flee the area before Sunday's Women's Premier League match against Tottenham.

One fan, who regularly attends women's games, spoke of feeling "betrayed" by Arsenal after seeing the anti-Israel demonstration outside the Emirates Stadium.

The fan decided to leave without entering the stadium and claims that he and many others are afraid to come because there is no security and a sense of security.

According to the "Guardian", about 20 Arsenal fans chose not to enter the stadium because of the anti-Israel demonstration, and will not come to the following games either.

"Arsenal is aware of the anger among its Jewish fans," the "Guardian" wrote, "the fans believe their safety was compromised by the security team not suppressing the protest."

An ominous feeling in London.

Questions were also raised about the way Palestinian flags are hung in and around the stadium, and about a poster calling on the management of the women's league to end its sponsorship agreement with Barclays, which is under attack by pro-Palestinian activists for its ties to Israel.

The flags and banner were hung in the stands undisturbed, contrary to the regulations.

Arsenal said steps were taken quickly to confiscate flags.

The thing is that the fans, who feared the violence and aggression of the pro-Palestinian demonstrators, warned Arsenal in advance about the existence of the demonstration before the day of the match.

Jewish fans say they were told the club would try to keep the demonstration away and that their safety would be of utmost importance.

It did not happen.

A Jewish fan who arrived at the stadium more than two hours before kick-off told the "Guardian" that the demonstrators were already demonstrating outside, near the statue of Thierry Henry.

The fan says he repeatedly asked the nearby security personnel to ask the protesters to stop the demonstration, but was told that no action could be taken against them.

The protesters handed out leaflets, hung stickers and were seen trying to communicate with people who came to the stadium.

One banner, placed next to a Palestinian flag, read that "Berkeley has blood on its hands."

One sticker read "anti-Zionist".

It is also written that "some Jewish fans reported seeing a poster showing a map that talks about the annihilation of Israel."

Jewish gunners said that "a number" of their friends and their families "felt unsafe" and "decided to return home without seeing a ball kicked".

It also reads: "Despite the various promises from the club ahead of the game, it seems that on this occasion it was not possible to guarantee an inclusive environment for all football fans."

Arsenal responded: "The demonstration took place in a public space outside the Emirates Stadium, and it is not within our authority to stop demonstrations taking place in the public space. Cases where prohibited items were detected inside the stadium were dealt with quickly by our stewards."
