Paris Saint-Germain's victory against Real Sociedad (2-1), Tuesday evening in San Sebastian, will do a lot of good for French football.
Thanks to this success and this qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, France is almost guaranteed to finish the season in fifth place in the UEFA index.
On the sole condition that PSV Eindhoven loses in the return against Dortmund on March 13 (1-1 in the first leg), and therefore does not reach the next round of the C1.
With 64,331 points in the ranking, France is ahead of the Netherlands this year, which has 61,100 points.
However, the Dutch were on top at the start of the year.
But the good performances of Lille, Rennes, Toulouse, Lens, Marseille and PSG in the various European cups allowed the French clubs to gain the upper hand.
If the ranking no longer changes, France will send four representatives to the Champions League next year (three clubs directly qualified, one in the preliminary round).

On the Dutch side, only PSV and Ajax are still competing in European competitions.
The first cited against Borussia, and the second against Aston Villa, in the 16th round of the Europa Conference League.
But, in the event that PSV loses in Dortmund, even a final victory for the Amsterdam team in C4 would not be enough to overtake France in the UEFA index.

Three French clubs are still present in European cups.
Olympique de Marseille faces Villarreal on Thursday in the round of 16 first leg of the Europa League.
Paulo Fonseca's LOSC travels to Sturm Graz (Austria), the same day and in the same round, but in the Europa Conference League.
For its part, Paris Saint-Germain is now a quarter-finalist in the Champions League.
