The Football Association already held a meeting yesterday (Tuesday) morning with all authorized officials in the legal field in order to make a decision regarding the association's course of action in the event that the disciplinary court decides to apply the suspended sentence and lower the league point in the cases of Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem.

As far as the Football Association is concerned , the things are very clear: the cases for which Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem were on trial should not justify deducting a point, even if the two carried suspended sentences.

The association was informed of the decision from the media.

An official in the association said this morning: "When we went for the change and enacted new time regulations, there was no intention for points to be dropped wholesale to the teams, even if they carry conditionals. The idea is that there are three declared and clear cases in which points should be discussed: explosion of a game, injury to a player or an official on the grass and throwing flares and pyrotechnic devices between the stands of fans.

"These are the three cases following which points should be deducted.

These were not the cases of Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem, and therefore we need clarification in the judgments of the Supreme Court, which is the one that will decide whether, despite all this, the conditional suspension should still be activated."

The football association is aware of public criticism, but insists that the punishments should go much more in the direction of financial penalties, and preventing riotous away crowds.

The intention is that the stadiums will not be empty, there will be no radio games and there will be no games without an audience.

The association will then join the appeals of Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem - appeals that will take place next week. The decision should be made before the last round of the regular league, at the end of next week, so that there will be no impact on the teams' position and therefore on the order of playoff games.

In the meantime, the association is investigating how the decision of the disciplinary court regarding Maccabi Haifa was leaked to one of the media outlets yesterday.

Moreover, the senior officials in the association learned about the decision to drop a point to Maccabi Haifa from the media, and this is being checked by the association.

Regarding Maccabi Tel Aviv's appeal, there is still no decision by the Supreme Court, and it is a case that is different from the cases of the application of the conditional suspension to Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem. It is not a punishment that the team has already suffered, but the question of whether a reduction of a league point should be applied for Derrick's case Lucasan.
