Loan player Igor Matanovic is having a strong season for Karlsruher SC.
Will he storm again for Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer?
Karlsruhe/Frankfurt – The SGE signed Igor Matanovic from FC St. Pauli in the summer of 2021, but he has not yet played a competitive game for the Adler.
Instead there were two loans to the 2nd Bundesliga.
The attacker has now made a breakthrough at Karlsruher SC, which could make him an option for the Frankfurt squad for the 2024/25 season.
Eintracht loanee Matanovic is convincing
In the last game for KSC, the 20-year-old scored a brace in a 4-0 win over SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
These were the ninth and tenth goals of the season for the center forward.
After the current season, Matanovic will return to the SGE and will be recommended for a place in the squad under head coach Dino Toppmöller in preparation.
Karlsruher SC does not have a purchase option for Matanovic, which shows that Eintracht Frankfurt is planning long-term with the attacker.
SGE sports director Timmo Hardung also confirmed this a year ago.
“We are absolutely convinced of Igor’s qualities,” he was quoted as saying, emphasizing that it is “still very important” for the striker to “gain plenty of match practice.”

Markus Krösche recently even confirmed that the contract, which runs until 2026, should be extended early.
“We have been in discussions with Igor for a long time about working together in the long term.
We want to extend the contract.
“Let’s see how far we can get this done in the short term,” the sports director is quoted as saying by the
Hessenschau
.
Matanovic in the Eintracht Frankfurt squad from summer?
At Eintracht Frankfurt it is unclear what the attack will look like in the new season.
Sasa Kalajdzic was loaned from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the winter and will return to England in the summer.
Because of his torn cruciate ligament, he will no longer play a game for the SGE.
The situation is different for Hugo Ekitike, who is also under contract with SGE until the end of the season.
Sports director Krösche can then sign him permanently from Paris Saint-Germain.

In the past, Daichi Kamada and Tuta became regular players and key performers at Eintracht Frankfurt after a year on loan.
