A crowd of around 1,200 spectators, a lot of fight and ten goals: there was a lot on offer in EC Peiting's first home game in the Oberliga play-offs against ESC Essen.

Peiting

- They didn't do a big lap of honor, but the Peitingen players did give a short greeting with raised bats to the cheering fans: The ECP had also won the second play-off duel with ESC Moskitos Essen.

On Tuesday evening there was a deserved 6:4 at home.

EC Peiting only needs one win for the quarter-finals

From Peitinger's point of view, it was bitter that they were 0-1 behind at the first break.

Because they got into the game very quickly and dominated the action.

Things went exactly differently than in the first duel

.

Brett Ouderkirk, Marco Habermann, Lukas Gohlke, Markus Czogallik, Felix Brassard – in the first few minutes many ECP players threatened Moskitos keeper Bastian Kucis' goal.

The visitors' lead was surprising: Niklas Heyer shot from the blue line, Dennis Reimer deflected - 0:1 (12th).

As a result, the puck often ran towards the ECP housing.

On the one hand, keeper Konrad Fiedler was on point, but on the other hand he also had the necessary luck.

This was also the case during an Essen power play (16th), in which the Mosquitoes generated a lot of pressure.

Before that, on the other side, Brassard had narrowly missed the exposed target on a rebound (15th).

ESC Mosquitoes Essen are ahead at the first break

At the start of the middle third, the ECP had a double majority: Sean Morgan scored from a distance to make it 1-1 (23rd).

As a result, both teams played an intense game.

Hardly ever was a player able to hold the disc on the racket undisturbed for even a fraction of a second.

The Peitingers clearly had fighting advantages.

The ECP established itself in the Essen zone and created many chances.

After Daniel Holzmann's shot (28th), there was complete chaos in front of the goal.

(All news and stories can also be found on the Schongauer Nachrichten Facebook page.)

As in the first third, the mosquitoes surprisingly bit: Carl Konze hit the corner to make it 2-1 (31st).

But the ECP responded quickly.

First Marc Besl made it 2-2 (32'), then it took 87 seconds before Thomas Heger's energetic effort made it 3-2.

The contest continued, with an increase in chances for the ECP.

Shortly before the end of the period, Enrico Saccomani poked the disc into the goal to make it 3-3 (40th).

My news

  • “The boys were asleep”: Peiting was well rested before the home game against Essen despite the strain of travel

  • Playoff opener against Mosquitoes Essen: Peiting hits late, but read in time

  • “You can’t play ice hockey like that”: Peiting’s coach Ty Morris was very disappointed after the home game

  • Morris complains: Peiting's performance is “disrespectful to the fans and the opponent”.

And with that: In this scene, Peiting's Felix Brassard (blue jersey) completes a fine solo effort with the goal to make it 4:3.

Felix Brassard with a great solo effort

The ECP started the final third with a majority - Brassard hit the goal post.

Sam Payeur and Elvijs Biezais had a scuffle that landed both in the penalty box (45').

A fine individual action brought the Peitingers forward again: Brassard prevailed against two defenders and also invited the goalkeeper - the score was 4:3 (48th).

Payeur narrowly missed the fifth goal (51st).

A little later Besl was successful to make it 5:3 (51st);

Gohlke had done great preparatory work.

And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

Essen tried hard, but the ECP defense proved to be solid.

The team survived being short-numbered (55th) quite easily, especially since Essen canceled out the advantage with their own penalty time.

After a good move from Tobias Beck, Payeur made it 6:3 (59th).

Essen's fourth goal (60') no longer bothered anyone.

ECP coach Ty Morris was “glad that the boys took advantage of the home advantage.”

The atmosphere in front of the 1,200 spectators “was really cool”.

Essen's coach Danny Albrecht didn't find it surprising that the Mosquitoes are now 0-2 behind in the series, "when you have an opponent who demands everything from you and you're not willing to do your job on the defensive and just do it to play".

That's what comes out of it.

Morris warned that people now had to “keep a cool head” in Essen.
