Munich – Can Bayern win against Mainz on Saturday without a “sacrifice” from their coach Thomas Tuchel?
As is well known, the 50-year-old showed great commitment during the round of 16 second leg win over Lazio Rome (3-0) and broke his big toe during the locker room speech before kick-off.
Tuchel breaks his big toe and has to take a break from training
Tuchel was in pain after the end of the game and he had to limp to the interviews afterwards.
“I was happy to make this sacrifice,” he said with a smile on his face.
It was initially unclear how the FCB coach sustained his foot injury.
It is now clear: Tuchel must have apparently kicked a door so hard during his speech that he broke his big toe.

Accordingly, Tuchel was given a break from training on Wednesday and Thursday.
However, Tuchel should be able to lead the final training session before the home game on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) again.
He will most likely be on the sidelines on Saturday.
Gnabry makes a comeback after a long injury break – how will Tuchel line up against Mainz?
From Bayern's point of view, three points are mandatory against a weak Mainz team (only one win from the last eight Bundesliga games).
The convincing win against Lazio should mark a late turning point in the German record champions' season.
In terms of personnel, Tuchel finally has several options available again against Mainz.
In addition to Alphonso Davies and Konrad Laimer, Serge Gnabry is also back in the Bayern squad.
The 28-year-old was already substituted on in the premier class during the week.
Tuchel will certainly give information about who is eligible for the starting eleven on Saturday at the press conference (Friday, 12.30 p.m.).
