As a transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has experienced a steep rise in recent years.
Now the Italian is facing serious accusations.
Munich – As soon as things got particularly chaotic on deadline day of a transfer window, Fabrizio Romano seemed like the organizing force.
The Italian always seemed to keep track of the chaos of international transfers.
His phrase “Here we go!”, which usually confirmed a player's permanent move, became his trademark on social media, through which he reaches well over 40 million followers.
But now the image of the popular journalist has developed deep cracks.
Romano is said to have turned his social media influence into a business model
There is suspicion that Romano used his popularity and influence on social media as a business model.
Specifically, he and the company Memmo (with which Romano works) are accused of offering his reporting to certain clubs for a fee, for example to give transfers or certain players a large platform.
This apparently happened with the Danish club FC Copenhagen and the Norwegian club Valerenga Oslo.
FC Copenhagen confirmed to the sports magazine
Tipsbladet
that a corresponding offer had been made to the Danish record champions.

FC Copenhagen confirms bad suspicions
“We can confirm that, like Valerenga, we were contacted with the offer that Fabrizio Romano could appear
in a video about an FCK transfer (
FC Copenhagen transfer, editor's note ) for a fee.
The idea was to increase awareness of the transfer and make the message accessible to a wider audience.
We refused,” FC Copenhagen press spokesman Jes Mortensen is quoted in the magazine.
Valerenga Oslo had previously made allegations public to the news portal
Idrettspolitikk
that the transfer expert had offered the Norwegian second division club commercial advertising for a transfer.
No statement from Romano yet
The allegations probably arose after Romano spread the seemingly exclusive news that Swedish player Roony Bardghji would not be extending his contract with FC Copenhagen due to insufficient playing time.
FC Bayern should also monitor Bardghji's situation in Copenhagen.
The club rejected the Italian's reporting to the sports magazine
Tipsbladet
at the time .
A journalist from the magazine then began researching Romano's environment and then made the allegations, which now appear to be true.
