At a press event, ski superstar Lucas Braathen explained the reasons for his comeback in more detail.

After his retirement in October, it was “difficult” to “wake up every day without the will to become the best in my sport.” The comeback wishes of many fans and colleagues “overwhelmed” him, said the son of a Brazilian mother.

Braathen resigns after dispute with association

The son of a Norwegian and a Brazilian, whose full name is Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, resigned in tears last October in a dispute with the Norwegian association.

On Thursday, the ski star will give a press conference where he will explain his decision.

Braathen is considered one of the most talented goal runners in the scene and already has five World Cup victories to his name, including the classics in Wengen 2022 and Adelboden 2023 (both Switzerland).

“The most important thing for me is to bring Brazilian culture, dancing and feelings into the sport,” said Braathen.

He wants to show the ski circuit “that you can be different and still be one of the best.

I want to show that sport is for everyone.”
