Highlights: The World Triathlon Championship Series in Abu Dhabi has been canceled. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast for the weekend. The race will be rescheduled for May 11. The women's race will take place on May 12. The men's race is scheduled for May 13. The event will be held at the Yas Marina in Dubai, UAE. It will be the first time the event has been held in the UAE. The other two events are in Dubai and Porto Alegre, Portugal.

Due to thunderstorms and heavy rain expected in the region, local authorities announced the cancellation of the WTCS stage.

No return to school for the Blues this Friday.

While they were to participate in the WTCS (World Triathlon Championship Series) stage in Abu Dhabi this Friday, the French triathlon team will have to stay at the dock.

In a press release released this Friday morning, the International Triathlon Federation announced the cancellation of all events scheduled for this weekend: the elite men's race, the elite women's race, the mixed relay and the races reserved for paratriathletes.

The cause: particularly unfavorable weather.

“Heavy rain and thunderstorms” are expected in the area and all outdoor activities have been canceled by local authorities.

The Federation specifies that all the organizers tried “to organize at least the events planned for Friday March 8 in a secure and closed place”.

“This option was unfortunately not possible given the need for the region to prepare for adverse weather conditions,” we finally learned.

We will have to wait until May 11 and a stage of the world series in Yokohama (Japan) to find the entire French team.

Some may decide to return to school in the coming weeks.

Cassandre Beaugrand for the women, and Vincent Luis, for the men, are notably included on the start list for the European Cup in Quarteira (Portugal), scheduled for March 23.
