Rather than donning the costume of a providential man, Jean-Louis Gasset preferred to play the modesty card.
At a press conference this Saturday morning, the Olympique de Marseille coach wanted to temper the enthusiasm that has surrounded his team since he was appointed head three weeks ago.
Focusing on the upcoming Ligue 1 match this Sunday (8:45 p.m.) against Nantes, he indicated that he did not want to “go from confidence to euphoria”.
3 - Jean-Louis Gasset is the first coach to win his first 3 matches with Marseille in all competitions since Otto Gloria in 1962 (5).

“Each match, we raise the bar a little higher,” he still greeted the journalists.
Now we have to maintain this.
It is maintaining this requirement that will keep us going.
» Two days after crushing Villarreal (4-0), Gasset called not to underestimate his opponent of the weekend, against whom he expects a tough match.
“I feel like everyone is going to go to the stadium relaxed.
Nantes is playing for survival and has taken 7 points out of 9 away.
It will be anything but easy, I prefer to warn everyone.

However, the supporters have good reasons to be optimistic: since his arrival on the Marseille bench, everything has been good for Gasset.
Still undefeated, their OM have had four successes, including two in the Europa League, and are averaging four goals scored per match.
“You have to be hybrid, that’s the magic word at the moment,” he explained to tactically justify his success.
You have to be able to dominate but also be able to move back 30 meters to play the transition.
The team understands that we have counter players and so I don't mind playing the “hedgehog” from time to time.

A call to “enjoy the moment”
“The coach is close to us, he speaks individually with the players to put them in good conditions,” praised Jordan Veretout, who accompanied Gasset at the press conference.
We are gradually trying to produce a little more football.
He had the right words to put our heads back on track.

By riding on this good dynamic, the coach intends to bring his club, currently 7th in Ligue 1, back up among the European places.
And after ?
And next season?
“One sentence pleases me: enjoy the moment,” he said when asked about his future this Saturday.
I signed for 100 days.
They asked me if I was capable of it, I said “I come and I do the mission”.
» So far, pretty good.
