Once again there are injury concerns at FC Bayern.
Alphonso Davies has to be substituted early in the game during his starting eleven comeback.
Munich – In purely sporting terms, everything went according to plan for FC Bayern in the early stages against Mainz 05 (here in the live ticker).
Harry Kane gave Munich the lead after wonderful preparatory work by Jamal Musiala (13th minute), Leon Goretzka was even able to extend their lead with a header (19th minute).
Davies was out for weeks due to an inner ligament injury
Before that, however, the game had to be interrupted due to injury.
Alphonso Davies, of all people, got it.
The Canadian finally made his comeback in Thomas Tuchel's starting line-up against the second-to-last team in the table after a long injury break due to an inner ligament strain.
In the previous league game, against SC Freiburg, Davies came on as a substitute and saw twelve minutes of playing time.
In the second leg of the round of 16 against Lazio Rome (3-0), the left-back, who has been repeatedly linked to Real Madrid in recent months, was on the pitch for at least 26 minutes.
Starting line-up comeback ends after just 18 minutes: injury concerns for Davies again
However, his return to the first team came to a bitter end after just 18 minutes on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old injured his face after an aerial duel with Mainz captain Silvan Widmer and had to be substituted.
Raphaël Guerreiro came into play for him.
After being substituted, Davies immediately went to the dressing room - accompanied by team doctor Peter Ueblacker.
