Update from March 9th, 5:48 p.m.:

12 minutes left before the race starts.

Verstappen is the clear favorite: Can he still keep a cool head despite all the drama in the Red Bull racing team?

Or can Charles Leclerc pose a threat to him in P2?

Update from March 9th, 5:29 p.m.:

Carlos Sainz is back at the race track today!

He already let his fans know via Instagram that the appendectomy went well.

But no one expected that he would be running around in the paddock again just one day after his operation.

First report from March 9th, 4:55 p.m.:

Helmut Marko was just interviewed by

Sky

and talked about his conversation with Oliver Mintzlaff.

It was a good conversation, but the top priority must be that the team becomes calmer again.

His contract runs for three more years and he wants to stay with the racing team.

According to his own statement, Helmut Marko will not be leaving Red Bull.

Formula 1 in Jeddah: Chaos at Red Bull – Helmut Marko on the verge of elimination?

Jeddah – The second race of the Formula 1 season takes place in Saudi Arabia and Red Bull's fortunes have been shaky for weeks.

First there was a case against team boss Christian Horner because he was said to have behaved inappropriately towards an employee and now there is talk that Helmut Marko is about to be suspended!

After an internal investigation, Horner was acquitted, but he remains silent about the exact wording of the verdict.

Honda and Ford, as engine suppliers, are said to have asked in writing for complete clarification, Helmut Marko told ORF.

There is a growing gap between the Austrian side and the Thai side of the company.

Helmut Marko said in the

Sky

interview that he had a conversation with the managing directors on Saturday (March 9th) and would see what happens afterwards.

“Everything has to be right for me to want to continue working here,” he finished his sentence.

Max Verstappen made it clear that he felt a deep loyalty to Marko and that he absolutely had to stay at Red Bull.

There's a lot going on behind the scenes at Red Bull.

How does that work out?

Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: Formula 2 driver with a great chance in the racing car

Shortly after arriving in Jeddah, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was no longer feeling well and complained of feeling unwell on Wednesday and Thursday.

His media appointments were canceled, but the Spaniard still completed the first two free practice sessions.

On Friday afternoon (March 8th) the news came that he had to undergo an appendix operation and would therefore be out of the third free practice session, qualifying and the race.

Ferrari is bringing 18-year-old Formula 2 driver Oliver Bearman into the cockpit as a replacement.

He is one of the youngest Formula 1 drivers ever and the youngest Ferrari driver for Formula 1 ever.

In qualifying he missed Q3 by just 36 thousandths and almost overtook two-time world champion Fernando Alonso.

The race will show what the young driver can get out of himself and the Ferrari.
