The trial of former Brazilian footballer Dani Alves, Barcelona/Reuters
The network was in a frenzy on Saturday night, after a Brazilian named Paulo Albuquerque, posing as a journalist, published a report according to which Dani Alves committed suicide in a prison in Spain.
Alves was recently sentenced to 4.5 years in prison after being convicted of sexual assault.
The rumors were refuted within an hour, but this fake news created a real effect and caused many people to comment on it, including Dani Alves' brother who was furious about the rumors.
"How cruel are humans? He was already convicted for the words of a woman who entered the men's bathroom to do what only he and she knew what was. He was already convicted. Isn't that enough?"
Ni Alves wrote on his Instagram.
"Now the crazy thing is they want him dead. They want to see my brother dead. But how cruel is that?" Nye added.
"My father is over 70 years old. My mother is over 60 years old. They have no family at all, do they? These pages that keep spreading this stuff. May God have mercy on you," Nye added angrily.
His brother was furious at the rumours.

At the end of February, the court in Barcelona sentenced Alves to four and a half years in prison.
The 40-year-old Brazilian was found guilty of sexual assault, at the end of a police investigation and a trial that went on for a little over a year under the spotlight.
Alves was arrested in January 2023. He arrived in Spain to attend the funeral of his wife's mother, and the police rushed to arrest him before he returned to Mexico where he was playing at the time.
The court also sentenced Alves to a fine of 150,000 euros which will have to be paid to the victim.
He was also ordered to stay away from his wife for 9 years and after he finishes serving his prison sentence, he will be under the supervision of the authorities for 5 years.
