The Austrian Christoph Krenn recently came up trumps.

But now the ski ace has to take a long break after a serious fall.

Munich – Austrian ski ace Christoph Krenn achieved decent results this winter.

But a serious crash ended his season early.

One day after the serious accident, the terrible diagnosis was made.

He will be out for a long time.

Ski ace Krenn seriously injured: surgery necessary

Krenn started with number one at the European Cup Super-G in Verbier on Friday (March 8th).

The serious fall occurred shortly after the first intermediate time.

A lower leg injury was quickly suspected and the 29-year-old was taken to the clinic by helicopter.

On Saturday (March 9th), the Austrian Ski Association announced the bitter diagnosis: Krenn suffered a fracture of the tibial plateau as well as a torn cruciate and lateral ligament in the fall in Verbier, Switzerland.

Accordingly, he has already been taken to his home country of Austria and was scheduled to undergo surgery in Graz on Saturday.

“Diagnosis is a shock”: Krenn has to take a long break after a serious fall

“The diagnosis is of course a shock for all of us,” head coach Marko Pfeifer is quoted as saying in the statement.

“Christoph fought back really well and recently finished strongly in the points twice in the Super-G World Cup.

In the European Cup he also still had a chance of securing a place in the speed disciplines.

It’s a dramatic injury and I wish him all the best for a good and quick recovery.”

Krenn has competed in 33 World Cup races in his career so far.

He celebrated his greatest success in 2018 when he came sixth in the Super-G in Beaver Creek, USA.

This season he also finished in the top 20 in the Super-G in both Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Kvitfjell. In the European Cup this winter he also celebrated considerable success in the speed disciplines, reaching the podium several times.

It is not yet known how long Krenn will be out after the serious injury.

Ski superstar Aleksander Aamodt Kilde also fell badly in January.

He is now on the mend, but his girlfriend Mikaela Shiffrin now told what the situation really was with the star from Norway shortly after the fall.
