Another frustrating night for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese star was eliminated last night (Monday) along with Al Nasser from the Asian Champions League already at the quarter-final stage, after losing to Omar Atzil's El Ain in a penalty shootout.
Ronaldo's mother, Dolores Aveiro, came to the game especially and looked happy before the game in the stands of honor, but on the grass her son failed to deliver the goods, and in the 60th minute he also recorded what was defined as the "biggest miss of his career", with a miss in front of an empty net from five meters.
"It's time to retire," they wrote on one of the websites in Saudi Arabia, noting that "Ronaldo disappointed his mother with a shocking miss."
The commentator on Saudi television also criticized Ronaldo and claimed that "age has been affecting him for a long time", and the teasing and insults continued with the opponent's players as well.
In the stories that emerged from the dressing room, El Ain players were heard mocking Ronaldo and yelling "Fuck you" at the camera.
On the website "Gol" they wrote that "Ronaldo is the main culprit in the fiasco", but they claimed that the one who might pay the price is coach Luis Castro.
Castro looked angry and upset at the end, and said in the dressing room that "in the Arab world, only the results are considered, and no meaning is attached to the way."
According to reports, Castro's position is in doubt and the leading candidate to replace him is none other than Jose Mourinho.
Needless to say, the one pushing in favor of the move is Ronaldo himself, who appreciates and cherishes Mourinho from his days at Real Madrid.
