For any footballer, finding themselves in the video game “EA Sports FC” (formerly Fifa) is already a great success.
But then when one of their actions is etched in video game marble and inserted into the game, it's a whole different honor.
For Niklas Süle, this honor will become reality.
In its spring update, which will be released in the coming days, game developer EA Sports revealed that the Borussia Dortmund player's heroic sliding tackle against Kylian Mbappé and PSG, during the last match of the group stage of the Champions League, would be added as an in-game animation.
In the latest opus, thanks to the performance enabled by new generation consoles, EA Sports introduced a new technology called “HyperMotionV” for player movements on the field.
This technology allows them to leverage what they call “volumetric data,” “an advanced gaming technology that creates true-to-life animations by capturing player movements during real-life competitive matches.”
» Basically: a player makes a gesture in a real match, and computers transform it into an animation that can be replicated endlessly by virtual players.
From now on, when a
gamer
wants to save a shot on his line, it is possible for his player to move like Süle against Paris.
Another example: Erling Haaland's spectacular goal against Borussia Dormtund last season in the Champions League had become an animation in the game. A certain way of making these gestures part of the legend.
