FC Bayern will not be allowed to bring fans to their next away game in the European Cup, UEFA has decided.

The record champions decided not to lodge an objection.

Update from March 12th, 4:15 p.m.:

FC Bayern has decided not to appeal against UEFA's ruling and will therefore have to do without its fans in the upcoming away game of the Champions League quarter-finals.

“The club accepts the decision after the relevant requirements of the European Football Association were violated in the round of 16 match at Lazio Rome,” Bayern said in a statement.

“We have to accept the punishment.

Not only were pyrotechnics set off in the stands, but shots were also targeted at the pitch, which put bystanders in immediate danger.

“This violated the probation conditions so explicitly that an objection is unfortunately pointless,” Bavaria’s board chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen is quoted as saying.

Update from February 29th, 7:45 p.m.:

As FC Bayern announced in a press release, the possibility of appealing against the fan exclusion imposed by UEFA is being examined.

“This is a very tough decision.

We had already made an urgent appeal to our supporters in December and asked them to refrain from any further pyrotechnics.

As of now, no fans will be able to accompany us at our next away game in Europe,” CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is quoted as saying.

And further: “The team is missing important support and it is particularly hard on the fans, who always behave correctly.

We have requested the reasons for the decision and are examining the possibility of an appeal.”

Fan exclusion: UEFA punishes FC Bayern harshly

Munich – In the first leg of the round of 16 in the Champions League, FC Bayern Munich experienced an evening to forget.

The game at Lazio Rome was lost 0-1, Dayot Upamecano was sent off and the fans went crazy in the stands.

The supporters' behavior now has consequences, as UEFA punished the club harshly.

FC Bayern Munich supporters set off pyrotechnics and threw objects during the game in Rome.

The UEFA disciplinary committee now enforced a penalty that had been suspended after the group stage.

In October last year, Bayern fans also set off fireworks at the game in Copenhagen.

If FC Bayern turns the result around in the second leg and advances to a round, no fans will be allowed to travel to the away game in the quarter-finals of the premier class.

In the event that Munich is eliminated against Lazio Rome, the penalty would apply in the first Champions League away game of the 2024/25 season.

“I hope she meets us.

Because overall we have to move forward first,” said head coach Thomas Tuchel when asked how much such a fan exclusion would affect FC Bayern Munich.

The 50-year-old didn't want to say anything else about the topic because it was inappropriate to comment on it.

You have to reach the quarter-finals first.

The suspended Upamecano will not be there in the second leg against Lazio Rome.

UEFA announced that the Frenchman will miss one game.

He would be eligible to play again in a possible quarter-final.

The 25-year-old was shown red for a foul in Rome in the 67th minute.

Former Dortmund player Ciro Immobile converted the penalty into the winning goal for Lazio.
