End of season for biathlete Franziska Preuß: operation is intended to solve health problems
After struggling with health problems in recent weeks and not being able to compete in all the races at the World Championships in Nove Mesto, she is now undergoing an operation.
The reason for this is a sinus infection that has accompanied the 30-year-old since the World Cup.
She and the doctors have now decided to carry out a small surgical procedure in order to be less vulnerable in the future.
The German Ski Association officially announced this on Tuesday (March 12).

Biathlete Franziska Preuß about surgery: “Convinced that it is the right step”
“I am convinced that it is the right step and I believe that I will be less vulnerable in the future,” says the customs officer.
Of course, Preuß, who even wore the yellow jersey and led the overall World Cup, will not bury her head in the sand.
Even if the loss hurts her from a sporting point of view, she can still take something positive out of the last few months: “On the one hand, it was great to see that when I'm healthy and can train continuously, I can run at the top of the world, and on the other hand, I can do it Of course it’s all the more bitter when I see that I could play a role in the overall World Cup.”

Franziska Preuß is already looking forward to the coming biathlon season
The Norwegian Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold now has the best cards there, with 964 points she is in first place ahead of the Italian Lisa Vitozzi (891 points) and the French Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (881).
The best German is Vanessa Voigt (557) in ninth place, Preuß follows directly behind in tenth place.
But something can still change in the ranking, the race weekend in Canmore (Canada) is still pending.
With a view to the new season, Preuß is already fighting and is highly motivated: “Now I'm really strong mentally, I'm looking positively into the future and I'm looking forward to soon being able to focus on training and preparing for the new one season.”
Then another driving force of the German team will no longer be there - the former world champion announced this in February.
