Doll is the last German biathlete of the golden generation

“The question is whether someone will take control of the organization.

Philipp Horn, Justus Strelow and Roman Rees were actually always there,” said Doll, who is going into the last sprint race of his sporting life on Friday in Canada (5.40 p.m./ZDF and Eurosport).

Doll doesn't feel any sadness at all: “I'm at peace with my decision, I don't mourn the sport.

I’m looking forward to coming home and tackling something new.”

Doll is the last world champion in the German team - the golden generation around him, Simon Schempp, Erik Lesser and Arnd Peiffer, which ensured a large number of podium finishes in the past decade, is history.

They were all world champions in an individual discipline and were on the podium at the Olympic Games.

Franziska Preuß, however, will miss the World Cup final in Canmore.
