The Parisian Grand Slam once again attracted crowds. In a few hours, all the tickets for the big courts were sold.

Every year, it's a rush.

When the Roland-Garros ticket office opens, tens of thousands of people flock to the online platform to buy precious tickets and start preparing for their day in front of the best athletes on the planet.

But there are many disappointed people.

On social media, many tennis fans complained about being too far in the queue.

Some were only able to enter the site several hours later, when the tickets had all been sold.

“I logged in at 10:03 a.m. and I was 430,000th in the queue,” explains Stéphane, who prepares for this sale every year.

I was only able to enter the venue at 4 p.m. but there was nothing left except premium seats and tickets for the qualifying days.

» On Twitter, several people posted photos of their screen showing that more than 600,000 people were ahead of them in the queue.

I've been here for an hour 😭

Quickly, the organizers of the second Grand Slam of the season reacted, and confirmed that the majority of tickets had been sold.

“Faced with the exceptional enthusiasm for this 2024 edition, we inform you that single tickets for the main courts (Philippe-Chatrier, Suzanne-Lenglen and Simonne-Mathieu) are sold out,” they wrote in a press release.

There is still availability on the Annex courts.

»

“What’s the place for true tennis fans?

»

Qualifications are also still accessible.

“It’s also an opportunity to discover Opening Week, the Qualifications week from May 20 to 24,” continued the organizers.

On the program: training sessions for the best players in the world on the Philippe-Chatrier court, wild matches on the Annex courts but also, for the first time, matches on the Suzanne-Lenglen court!

»

However, this will not satisfy everyone.

Last year, tickets were also sold out within hours, while the stands remained desperately empty for many matches.

“Getting tickets for Roland-Garros is impossible.

Every year, however, the stands offer a very sad landscape, summarizes an Internet user.

Where do true tennis fans fit into this story?

A true paradox, unworthy of the sporting spirit.

Every year, however, the stands offer a very sad landscape... What is the place for real tennis fans in this story?

All is not lost, however.

Like every year, many tickets will be resold.

A legal platform, governed by the organization, will also make it possible to do so if it is impossible to fill your places.

These will then be resold at their base price.

On social networks, however, some are trying to raise the stakes and collect a little money by taking advantage of their good position on the waiting list.

An obviously illegal method which upsets real tennis fans, who will have to follow the matches from their sofa.
