1. FC Saarbrücken continues to write DFB Cup history!
There is great euphoria after the last-minute win against Borussia Mönchengladbach:
FC Bayern Munich fans must have a sense of déjà vu late on Tuesday evening (March 12).
Addition time is running in the Ludwigsparkstadion - and like on November 1, 2023, 1. FC Saarbrücken is celebrating a big sensation in the DFB Cup.
This time not in the 2nd round, but in the quarterfinals.

1. FC Saarbrücken celebrates the DFB Cup sensation against Gladbach – in stoppage time
After a hard-fought game under difficult conditions, the score is 1-1 between the outsiders from Saarland and Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach.
When many spectators were already preparing for extra time, the FCS was able to counter: Fabio Di Michele Sanchez had his eye on striker Kai Brünker, who scored ice-coldly for a 2-1 win.
Shortly afterwards the final whistle sounds!
1. FC Saarbrücken is actually in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup.
The outsider had previously knocked Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Bayern and Karlsruher SC out of the competition.
“We knocked out Bayern, Frankfurt and Gladbach and are in the semi-finals, and I would say we also have one foot in Berlin.
We only have one hurdle left to jump over.
“It’s crazy,” said the visibly exhausted Brünker after the final whistle.

The quarter-final against Gladbach was actually supposed to take place in February, but the game had to be postponed due to heavy rain.
On Tuesday the favorite will take the lead.
Robin Hack (8th) makes it 0-1, but coach Rüdiger Ziehl's team shows morale early on.
Amine Naïfi (11th) equalized just three minutes later.
After the final whistle, the celebration in the Ludwigsparkstadion knows no bounds.
In addition to the joy, there is also a bit of disbelief.
“It's a miracle, but also a bit of quality.
Especially if you can strike again at the end,” says trainer and manager Ziehl.
The third division team then posts a celebration video directly from the dressing room via Instagram.

1. FC Saarbrücken will now face FCK in the DFB Cup
By the way, 1. FC Saarbrücken's last place in the semi-finals wasn't that long ago.
In the 2019/20 season, the Saarland team failed at Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
The game was played without spectators during the corona pandemic.
This will now be different.
On April 2nd, the FCS will host their Palatinate rivals 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
One of the two underdogs can then compete in the final in Berlin on May 25th.
