Former ski star Thomas Dreßen has very special ideas for his professional life after his career ends.

He can well imagine a role as captain of the dream ship.

Munich – For years, Thomas Dreßen was one of the best ski racers in Germany, sensationally winning the famous Hahnenkamm downhill run in Kitzbühel in 2018 and being on the podium in Super-G and downhill a total of ten times in his career.

In January, the 30-year-old, who was plagued by numerous injuries, some of them serious, ended his career and is now turning to his new life away from the piste.

Professionally, Dreßen could take the step from the snow to the water - preferably as captain of the dream ship.

Former ski star Dreßen can imagine Posten as a dream ship captain

In the Sportschau

winter sports podcast,

Dreßen spoke, among other things, about his professional future and revealed: “Dream ship captain on television, I could imagine that.” Dreßen would follow in the footsteps of Florian Silbereisen, who has the fictitious captaincy on the ZDF ship has held the position since 2019.

Should he really get the role one day, Dreßen would not only emulate Silbereisen, but another pop singer and former ski star.

He would want to “follow in Hansi Hinterseer’s footsteps”.

After his career as a successful ski racer, Hinterseer not only became a singer, but also an actor and presenter - and thus Dreßen's role model.

“He’s an extremely cool guy.

“I’m a big fan of his, I even listen to his music,” enthuses Dreeßen.

DSV return possible: Dreßen open for discussions

Dreßen has not yet made any alternative career plans for the future.

“We’ll see what happens.

It can be anything, but of course it has to be something that interests me,” says Dreßen, who adds: “It doesn’t have to be something I can already do.

It can be something that I first have to familiarize myself with and get into.”

Dreßen can also imagine returning to the German Ski Association (DSV) as an official or trainer: “I am open to discussions.

My goal is primarily to give something back to the DSV.

I am very interested in helping out there.” But there are no concrete discussions yet.

Dreßen wants to spend time with his family

Rather, what is now important to him is “that I first get a little distance from the whole thing.

Also that I can reflect on one or two things for myself and let them sink in.” The first priority now is to spend time with his family and his daughter, who was born in June last year.

Dreßen also reveals exactly what that looks like: “We make sure that we are outside with our daughter as much as possible.

It’s just extremely important to me to spend a lot of time with her in the fresh air and to model exercise for her.”

This statement should particularly please Dreßen's ex-colleague Felix Neureuther, who has been campaigning for more exercise for children for years.

Neureuther recently also criticized politics.
