Dozens of players in Argentine football, in the local league and in the national team, including world champion and Roma midfielder Andrew Paredes, today (Thursday) expressed support and identification with former player Pablo Daniel Osvaldo known as "Danny".

Osvaldo opened his heart in a video he uploaded to his Instagram page, in which he said that he was dealing with serious mental difficulties that also led him to addictions.

Osvaldo was born in Argentina, grew up there and started his career there, but at a young age he moved to Italy and became a citizen of that country.

After playing in a long series of teams in Serie A, he reached the national team and made 14 appearances in media where he scored four goals.

Among the clubs he moved to, Fiorentina, Roma, Juventus and Inter stand out, when at the end of his career he returned to his homeland and played, among others, for Boca Juniors.

The former striker revealed, while noting that he "doesn't know if this is a call for help or or simply a need to talk about it", that he suffers from depression which, among other things, led him to become addicted to drugs and alcohol.

"I'm losing control of my life."

Osvaldo also revealed that he is undergoing psychiatric treatment and taking medication: "I have a very specific illness. My self-esteem is low, I fall again and again. I have reached a state of self-destruction and I also destroy those around me. In fact, I live alone and shut myself up at home," he continued .

Osvaldo added that these problems kept him away from his family and friends, that he has difficulty getting out of the crisis and is not even able to perform basic daily activities: "Sometimes I don't have the strength to get out of bed or take a shower."

He explained that he uploaded the video for people who are in a similar situation, and with the understanding that "it is impossible to get out of this alone and it is important to seek the help of a professional".

The Argentinian also said that he does not have a permanent job and that he spent most of the money he saved during his respectable career as a soccer player, but emphasized that "I don't care about the money. It hurts me the most to be poor in my soul."

Osvaldo apologized to his relatives and to his ex-partner, and ended by saying: "I wish one day I could be who I used to be. That's all."
