Claudia Pechstein still hasn't had enough.

The speed skater will also compete next season.

But first she wants to win a legal battle.

Inzell – 32 years ago, Claudia Pechstein celebrated her first really big success by winning Olympic bronze in the 5000 meters.

The length of Pechstein's career is impressive; some of her current competitors were not even born more than three decades ago.

on the sidelines of the all-around world championships in Inzell , she is planning to take part in the 2024/25 World Cup season.

Claudia Pechstein is preparing for a coaching position after her active career

The fact that she doesn't qualify for the home World Cup really bothers her, but her focus was also on other disciplines: “Of course I would like to be there in front of my home crowd.

But I focused specifically on the 5000 meters during the season and also had my sights set on the individual distances.

I know where my strengths lie, and that’s not the all-around.”

As far as the time after his active career is concerned, Pechstein already has a concrete plan.

She is currently completing a coaching course. If she passes, she will receive her diploma at the beginning of October - and in the medium term perhaps also a position in the German team?

“I've wanted to pass on my experiences as a coach for years, it's been in my head for years.

Where, when, how?

We'll see when the time comes.

But of course it would be stupid not to use the experience of a long-standing, successful speed skater,” said Pechstein.

Before she continues on the ice in around ten months, the five-time Olympic champion has one more non-sporting appointment coming up.

A date is scheduled for October 24th at the Munich Higher Regional Court, where Pechstein's lawsuit against the World Ice Skating Association ISU will be heard.

In 2009 he accused her of doping because of abnormal blood values and banned her for two years.

Pechstein can hope for compensation and damages

The German long-distance ace has since vehemently denied this and is therefore looking forward to the negotiation positively: “Because I still have nothing to blame myself for.

That's why it can only work out for me - finally, I hope." If the court decides in favor of Pechstein, the 52-year-old can look forward to compensation payments and compensation amounting to millions.

Whether Pechstein will run until the 2026 Olympics is still up in the air - there is currently a lot of criticism about the new construction of the bobsleigh track for the Winter Games in Italy.
