The secret about the new jerseys for the German national team has been revealed.
While the home version is classically white, the daring away shirt in particular is sure to be a talking point.
The jersey runs from pink in the shoulder and chest area down in diamonds to purple and, according to the supplier adidas, is intended to “stand for the new generation of German football fans and the diversity of the country”.
Shorts and socks are purple.
The fans' opinion on this is divided.
National coach Julian Nagelsmann, on the other hand, likes it.
“I like it when it's a little colorful.
This also has a psychological effect on the opponent.
“That’s proven,” emphasized the fashion-conscious Landsberger on Thursday at the DFB’s press conference in Frankfurt.
Nagelsmann explained that there have been studies on goalkeepers: “If they have eye-catching jersey colors, the goal becomes smaller and smaller.
Maybe the gap for the opponent's passes will be smaller because we now have a colorful jersey.
I always say: courage is the anagram of happiness.
And that was a courageous decision.” The fact that the away jersey is now being hotly debated shows “that it was the right decision.”
Nagelsmann also officially announced the 26 players who will wear the new jerseys for the first time at the international matches in Lyon against France (March 23) and in Frankfurt against the Netherlands (March 26).
Without regard for big names, but with courage for debutants.
Eleven players from the November squad that suffered disgrace against Turkey (2:3) and Austria (0:2) fell victim to the upheaval, including stars such as Mats Hummels, Niklas Süle and Leon Goretzka.
“Thanks to very good performances and an understanding of the role, no door is closed,” Nagelsmann made it clear three months before the European Championship opener in Munich against Scotland (June 14).
Instead of the established ones, new faces “with desire and greed” should awaken hope for a summer fairy tale 2.0: Jan-Niklas Beste from Heidenheim, Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim, Stuttgart’s Waldemar Anton, Maximilian Mittelstädt and Deniz Undav as well as Aleksander Pavlovic from FC Bayern.
Special praise for Pavlovic
The 19-year-old six, who the Serbian association also tried hard to attract, received special praise from Nagelsmann: “He has shown a very good performance in the last few weeks.
He speaks in the dressing room and doesn't hide despite his young age. We'll see whether it's enough for the European Championships.

Meanwhile, permanent DFB greats will be goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who is returning after a break of more than 15 months, and Toni Kroos from Real Madrid.
The midfielder will put on the DFB jersey for the first time since the 2021 European Championship – in white and bright pink.
