The Israeli national team did disappoint in November and failed in its attempt to qualify for Euro 2024 through the qualifying stage, but it has one last and great chance to do so next week, when on Thursday it will host Iceland in Budapest in the semi-finals of the qualification playoffs.
If Israel wins on March 21, five days later it will host the winner of the parallel meeting between Bosnia and Ukraine in the final, at the end of which the winner will win the last ticket to the championship.
Ahead of the game, in the hope of the fateful games in the playoffs, today (Thursday) Alon Hazan announced the squad for the games.
The injured Menor Solomon was not called up, nor was Stav Lemkin ineligible, Shawn Weissman was not called up at all and the absence of the Legionnaires led to Ido Shachar and Tomer Yosef getting their first call-ups.
Miguel Vitor and Raz Shlomo, who were injured recently, were also called up, so that Idan Nahmias remained out of the squad, even though he was strong in the image of Alon Hazan and Yossi Banyon.
Of course, Shawn Goldberg also returned to training at Maccabi Haifa.
Lial Abde, who recently left Celtic and signed with Charlotte, was included in the squad as expected.
