Münster, the best team in the second half of the season, is coming to the Grünwalder Stadium on Saturday.
Four Lions are out, Arigiros Giannikis has to improvise.
Munich – The thigh is on strike, now of all times.
Except for the game in Aue, when he served a yellow card suspension, Jesper Verlaat was on the pitch for 1860 on every matchday, with one exception for the full 90 minutes.
Now he is out and not only misses the home game against Münster (Saturday, 2 p.m. in the live ticker), but also the standing ovation from the 1860 fans that he would have been guaranteed after his contract extension.
The Lions love their captain, defense chief and good-mood professional.
Coach Argirios Giannikis also emphasized the Dutchman's value again on Friday.
“He is a very, very important factor,” emphasized the 1860 coach, “not just for me, but for the whole team.
We are happy that our captain is staying on board.”
Preußen Münster comes to Munich with the best attack in the 3rd league
Dressed in casual clothes in the stands, “Captain Jessy” will watch on Saturday as his club pulls itself out of the affair against the top team in 2024 without him.
Münster has not lost a game in the second half of the season and not only has the strongest attack, but also has the best strike duo in the 3rd league.
While Malik Batmaz (23) was the shooting star of the first half of the season, Joel Grodowski (26) recently caught up strongly.
He also now has 14 goals and has scored in nine of his last ten appearances.
For comparison: The best 1860 shooter is Julian Guttau - he has seven hits.
The duel with the newly promoted team will therefore be a special challenge for the weakened Lions defense, in which Verlaat and Max Reinthaler as well as the two six-man Marlon Frey (red card suspension) and Manni Starke (bacterial infection) have to be replaced.
“You always have to be vigilant, in both directions.”

The central defense practically sets itself up: Leroy Kwadwo, who was briefly moved from the left to the inside in Dresden, has to represent the top dogs Verlaat/Reinthaler together with Michael Glück, most recently a gastrointestinal patient.
The solution a line in front of it is not so clear.
As the second six alongside Tim Rieder, the coach brought three candidates into discussion: Niklas Tarnat, who has only made it into the 20-man squad once under Giannikis, all-rounder Phillipp Steinhart – or U19 novice Moritz Bangerter.
The tendency is probably towards Steinhart - although Giannikis emphasizes that he doesn't have a bad feeling about any of the 1b solutions.
“We trust the guys who are coming up now,” he said.
And as far as the stormy Prussian duo Matmaz/Grodowski is concerned: “Münster generally scores a lot of goals.
But we're going into the game with a broad chest because we showed in the games against Ulm (0:1) and Dresden (1:2) that we're capable of winning even against top teams.”
