Eintracht Frankfurt has extended the long-term contract with striker Igor Matanovic, who is currently on loan to Karlsruher SC.

Karlsruhe/Frankfurt – Eintracht Frankfurt has extended the contract with Igor Matanovic, which originally ran until 2026, until 2029.

The center forward is currently on loan at Karlsruher SC and made his breakthrough with the Baden team.

So far this season, the 20-year-old has ten goals and three assists (as of March 15).

Eintracht Frankfurt extends contract with striker

“Igor has a great character.

He is ambitious and has developed very well.

We are happy that he will play for Eintracht in the long term.

We showed him the path we would like to take together with him.

Igor will be an integral part of our team from summer onwards,” Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche is quoted on the club’s website.

There was no purchase option for Matanovic in the loan deal with Karlsruher SC, which shows that Eintracht Frankfurt has a long-term plan for the attacker.

SGE sports director Timmo Hardung also confirmed this a year ago.

“We are absolutely convinced of Igor’s qualities,” he was quoted as saying, emphasizing that it is “still very important” for the striker to “gain plenty of match practice.”

Matanovic is looking forward to wearing the jersey with the eagle on the chest again next season: “I was able to experience what it means to play in the Eintracht jersey in the test games last summer.

I really enjoyed this feeling and I am happy about the trust that has been placed in me, which I would like to repay with good performance from the summer onwards.

Of course, I will do my best for my current club until then.”

Matanovic is staying at Eintracht Frankfurt long-term

At Eintracht Frankfurt it is still unclear what the attack will look like in the new season.

Sasa Kalajdzic was loaned from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the winter and will return to England in the summer.

Because of his torn cruciate ligament, he will no longer play a game for the SGE.

The situation is different for Hugo Ekitike, who is also under contract with SGE until the end of the season.

Sports director Krösche can then sign him permanently from Paris Saint-Germain.

At least it is now clear that Matanovic will receive a place in the squad.
