Former German international Max Kruse spoke badly about ex-Bayern coach Niko Kovac in a podcast.

Wolfsburg – Max Kruse is known for not mincing his words.

In the “Flatterball” podcast, which he runs together with his friend and long-time teammate Martin Harnik, he didn't speak well of Niko Kovac, who has just been released as head coach at VfL Wolfsburg.

As a coach, he had “only experienced one example in his career where I would say: an absolute catastrophe in terms of character,” Kruse complained about Kovac, who suddenly stopped using him in Wolfsburg.

“Niko has his special way of training a team: He wants to show relatively early on that he is the top dog,” explained the former German international.

“In all the clubs where he was a coach, he shaved an undisputed player relatively quickly: Ben Yedder, captain at the time, at Monaco.

Alex Meier near Frankfurt.

At Bayern Thomas Müller.

And then stop me at Wolfsburg.

Is this insecurity?

Is this calculation?

Or is that just a coincidence?

I knew from day one that it wouldn't work between me and Kovac.

He just takes a completely different path.

And he says: This is the only way you can be successful,” Kruse continued.

The then Wolfsburg sports director Jörg Schmadtke did not want to let Kruse's statements stand.

“I have the feeling that Max Kruse has a disturbed perception.

The fact that people like him talk about character leaves me helpless,” he told the

Kruse's statements are a “bottomless impudence”.

Kovac himself reacted to Kruse's criticism in clear words: "The person who said something said more about himself than about us and me." The former coach of FC Bayern Munich was also upset that Kruse involved Wolves professional Yannick Gerhardt by saying that Kruse was also gossiping about Kovac at the time.
