Ski jumping on Saturday: Wind causes the first flight to be canceled
Gone with the wind was the motto that prevailed today in
Vikersund
, Norway .
After the women's ski flying was canceled in the morning due to
strong winds
and
an extremely large amount of fresh snow
, the men's competition also fell victim to the weather in the afternoon after the start time had been postponed twice.
It remains to be hoped that the conditions will calm down a bit overnight, as the grand
finale of the Raw Air Tour
is scheduled to take place on the Monsterbakken on Sunday.
The first round starts at 3:30 p.m.

Ski jumping in the live ticker today: The preliminary report on ski flying in Vikersund
After jumping from the normal hill on Tuesday in
Trondheim
, there was great hope that the DSV Adler's form curve would finally go up again.
But after the weak individual performance on Wednesday, it is clear that the German team has
not yet returned to the top of the world rankings
.
Ski jumping in the live ticker today: Germans are far from the top again
Once again, no DSV athlete made it into the
top ten
in Trondheim , only four were able to qualify for the final.
With 28th place, Andreas Wellinger
lost a lot of points in the fight for the overall World Cup, second place, which Ryoyu Kobayashi is currently in, is now virtually unattainable.
The best German on Wednesday was
Pius Paschke
, who came in
11th
.
Anyone who was hoping that the tide would turn on the ski flying hill in Vikersund will be proven wrong after the qualification on Friday.
Wellinger,
the best DSV jumper in the Raw Air rankings with seventh place, managed to finish tenth, but
his
gap
to the qualification winner
Peter Prevc
was large at 24.7 points.
Behind Wellinger,
Pius Paschke
(11th) and
Karl Geiger
(15th) were able to place among the top 15 jumpers.
Ski jumping in the live ticker today: Schmid botches qualification
After his elimination in the first round in Trondheim, Stephan Leyhe
was able to secure 22nd place,
Philipp Raimund
was 31st.
Constantin Schmid
, on the other hand, had a really bad day , coming 47th and thus last in the qualification not for the competition, in which only 40 jumpers will be involved and will therefore not be able to take part in the
final of the Raw Air Tour
, in which only the
best 30 jumpers
in the Raw Air ranking are allowed to take part.
He is currently
ranked 36th
.
After their fabulous performance in Trondheim, the favorites for the competition on Sunday are the
Austrians
around the overall World Cup leader
Stefan Kraft
, who is also ahead in the raw air ranking, and Daniel Huber.
But after his victory in qualifying, you also have to take
Peter Prevc
and the currently strong Norwegian
Johann Andre Forfang
into account.
An exciting competition awaits us.
