SV Werder Bremen narrowly lost the Bundesliga game at 1. FC Union Berlin 1:2 (0:0), thus suffering their third defeat in a row.

The DeichStube match report.

Berlin – The downward trend after the small high continues at

SV Werder Bremen

: On Saturday afternoon there was

the third 1:2 (0:0) defeat in the Bundesliga in a row at

1. FC Union Berlin .

This should put the issue of Europe to rest for now.

The lead over the relegation place is still eleven points eight games before the end of the season.

It was a deserved defeat because the Green-Whites acted far too harmlessly and incorrectly.

Yorbe Vertessen (51') and Brenden Aaronson (52') had given the hosts the lead with a double strike, Werder only managed to score again through Mitchell Weiser (63').

Naby Keita's late comeback wasn't any help either.

The same thing also applied to some of the visiting fans, who made unpleasant noise with pyrotechnic attacks and even caused the game to be interrupted.

Ole Werner, coach of

SV Werder Bremen

, had placed his trust in Nick Woltemade in midfield for the suspended Romano Schmid.

Milos Veljkovic, who injured his back in the final training session, replaced Niklas Stark (injured medial ankle ligament) in the defense center.

To do this, Felix Agu had to give up his place for Olivier Deman on the left side.

However, the Belgian did

n't have a good day against

Union Berlin and was a factor of uncertainty.

But not just him.

Sixer Senne Lynen made a mistake at the start, as did keeper Michael Zetterer, but both had no consequences.

Werder Bremen consistently defends against the ball against Union Berlin, but is too harmless offensively

Otherwise, Werder Bremen

defended

consistently – against a

1. FC Union Berlin

that was, however, lacking in ideas .

Because this also applied to the Bremen offensive, it was a game to ignore for a long time.

Only a quickly taken free kick from the committed Woltemade finally caused an eye-catcher, as Mitchell Weiser's shot landed - slightly deflected by Danilho Doekhi - at least on the outside post (24th).

A very, very yellow phase followed in a game that was actually not that unfair.

The very petty referee Daniel Schlager handed out six warnings from the 26th to the 42nd minute - equally divided between

Union Berlin

(Vogt, Gosens and Tousart) and

Werder Bremen

(Lynen, Weiser, Ducksch).

Lynen and Weiser will therefore be suspended for the next game against Wolfsburg.

Football was then played, but almost exclusively in the direction of the Bremen goal: first Anthony Jung prevented Gosens from making it 1-0 for Berlin with a strong tackle (42'), then Zetterer directed an Aaronson shot just over the crossbar (45'). +2).

Union Berlin shocked Werder Bremen with two goals early in the second half

Ole Werner's change during the game from a 3:5:2 to a 3:4:3 with Woltemade in the center of the attack and Ducksch and Njinmah on the wings didn't achieve much; SV

Werder Bremen

appeared too inactive and flawed to face

Union Berlin

to get into trouble more often.

Apparently the topic was at halftime, because

Werder Bremen

came out of the locker room much bolder and took control.

But only briefly!

Because then Weiser in particular slept on the right side and let Gosens prepare Yorbe Vertessen to make it 1-0 (51').

Malatini and Lynen didn't cut a good figure either.

However, just like the referee team: The goal should not have counted because Mikkel Kaufmann, who was standing directly in front of keeper Zetterer when Vertessen shot, was offside.

A little later,

Union Berlin

struck again: Lynen could have stopped Aaronson twice on the way to making it 2-0, but couldn't (52').

Bitter moments for

Werder Bremen

, who quickly shook off the double shock.

First Woltemade narrowly missed the next goal (56th), then Weiser actually managed to make it 1-2 with a header (63rd) - and of all things after a corner from Ducksch, whose attempts had been so harmless up to that point.

This time he and Weiser also benefited from

Union Berlin

keeper Frederik Rönnow who was too hesitant.

Werder Bremen loses at 1. FC Union Berlin: Naby Keita plays for SVW for the first time in five months

Ole Werner made a substitution, bringing on Leonardo Bittencourt and Felix Agu for Lynen and Deman (64').

However, Union Berlin

had the next chance

, but Zetterer was just able to parry Tousart's shot with his foot (67').

Then Stage also saw yellow and

Werder Bremen

will also miss the next game, again it was a petty decision by referee Schlager (72nd).

He had to interrupt the game shortly afterwards; fireworks flew onto the pitch from the visitors' block, where there had already been a lot of lighting after the break (76'), thus posing a danger to the players.

Werner used the forced break to make further changes, Dawid Kownacki and Skelly Alvero came on for Njinmah and Stage.

But the new staff at

SV Werder Bremen

also couldn't find any way to get

Union Berlin

into trouble.

So Ole Werner pulled his last joker and actually brought on Naby Keita in the 86th minute – for the first time in five months with injuries and illnesses.

The star newcomer from Liverpool FC immediately set an example - with a foul that resulted in a yellow card.

But nothing more came, which also applied to his colleagues.

Zetterer – Malatini (86. Keita), Veljkovic, Jung – Weiser, Lynen (64. Bittencourt), Deman (64. Agu) – Stage (76. Alvero), Woltemade – Njinmah (76 . Kownacki), Ducksch

UPDATE WERDER LIVE TICKER

>>>

5.30 p.m.: With that, the ticker man says goodbye for today and for the international match weekend.

The next competitive game is today at home in two weeks against VfL Wolfsburg.

Until then, our colleagues will, as usual, provide you with everything you need to know about today's game.

See you then!

5:29 p.m.: Werder remains winless and misses a huge step towards staying in the league.

A rather weak first half with few chances, in which only Weiser (23rd) and, on the Union side, Aaronson (45th+1) could have done something to make it 0-0.

The hosts did this shortly after the restart with a double strike from Vertessen and Aaronson (51st, 52nd).

Werder managed to catch up with a header from Weiser after a corner (63'), but that wasn't enough to win a point.

This is a big step for Union, Werder is struggling.

5:28 p.m.: ...that was it!

Werder loses 1:2 in Berlin.

90.+9:

Volland hits the side netting of the Bremen goal after a counterattack.

And...

90.+9:

The game is still going on after an injury interruption.

90.+7: At the far post the ball slips through to Ducksch, who pulls the trigger but is blocked.

90.+6:

Werder's balls up front don't reach the goal, but Bremen are currently winning the important duels in midfield and are regaining possession of the ball.

90.+5:

The Union fans demand a hand penalty for a cross from the left.

Keita's hand was probably there too, but that's not enough.

90.+4:

Counterattack for Union, luckily for Werder it ends with a weak pass into Zetterer's arms.

90.+3:

The balls at Werder are getting longer and longer.

90.+2:

Kownacki is whistled for a striker's foul in the opponent's penalty area.

He can't believe it.

90.+1:

Werder still has eight minutes to equalize!

90th min:

Keita gets yellow after a foul in midfield.

88th min:

Hollerbach runs towards the Werder goal, but loses the ball in a one-on-one against Veljkovic.

86th min:

Malatini has finished work, now comes Keita.

85th min:

Bittencourt with a great effort in a counterattack against Laidouni.

83rd min:

Union does well at the back and always creates relief.

Jung wants to clear a cross from the left, but it hits Veljkovic from close range, so that Zetterer has to throw himself down to prevent the ball from hitting the ball.

81st min:

Union with a little relief.

Hollerbach wants to pass through in the middle of the penalty area, but Zetterer is there.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Union Berlin: The final phase is underway, Werder is becoming more offensive

79th min:

Werder is becoming more and more courageous and offensive, which is no surprise considering the score.

Kownacki tries an overhead kick in the penalty area, but is blocked.

78th min:

Aaronson makes room for Laidouni on the Berlin side.

78th min:

At the end of a counterattack, Agu finishes from 18 meters, passing to the left.

76th min:

Double substitution at Werder.

Njinmah leaves the pitch for Kownacki, Alvero is now in the game for Njinmah.

75th min:

The game is interrupted again, as it was shortly after kick-off.

The Bremen fans threw pyrotechnics onto the field.

74th min:

Weiser dances past Diogo Leite on the front right, then passes it back to Woltemade.

But he can't hold his own against three opponents.

73rd min:

Bremen are not really in any danger right now.

Jung tries a long ball, but Rönnow lets it slide easily into the goal.

72. Min:

Stage and Agu work on Aaronson in midfield, Schlager whistles.

Both Aaronson and Stage complain, Stage gets a yellow card.

And as Lynen and Weiser can see, this is the fifth time he has been warned this season and will also be missing against Wolfsburg in two weeks.

oof.

68th min:

It's not dangerous in itself, but Tousard volleys in the backcourt to finish.

There is a hand from Veljkovic, but the distance was simply too short for a penalty, which referee Schlager probably sees that way after a short VAR check.

67th min. That MUST be 3-1 for Union!

Tousard runs an actually weak ball into the middle, moves freely into the penalty area, could put it in the middle, but finds his master in Agu and goalkeeper Zetterer, who are running along.

Corner Union.

68th min:

Double substitution at Union.

Hollerbach comes for Kaufmann, Volland for Vertessen.

66th min:

Kaufmann has a chance on the other side because Weiser is in the penalty area and cancels the offside.

But the Union attacker is blocked when he finishes from eight meters.

63rd min:

Werder double substitution: Lynen and Deman are out, Bittencourt and Agu should help to get at least one more point here.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Union Berlin: New hope thanks to Mitchell Weiser after Union's double strike

63rd min: Too bad for Werder, Weiser shortens the score to 1:2 from Werder's perspective!

Werder has a corner on the left.

Ducksch brings him sharply in front of the goal.

It's actually a ball for Rönnow, but Weiser intervenes and heads in from close range without resistance!

62. Min:

Njinmah takes a long ball from the left, but he fails to receive the ball and Gosens is able to clear it.

58th min:

It was a rather mediocre game the whole time, and Union wasn't necessarily dangerous either.

Within less than two minutes, Werder is suddenly faced with major problems.

56th min:

The next weak back pass that puts Zetterer in trouble.

This time it's Jung, Zetterer saves from the line.

55th min:

Ducksch heads a right cross in front of the goal from ten meters, where Woltemade narrowly misses the ball with his long leg.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Union Berlin: Two cold showers after the restart for Werder

52nd min: Another goal for Union, the Iron team makes it 2-0.

Aaronson gets a long ball from Zetterer, plays a one-two with Vertessen in the penalty area, is free and stays cool in front of Zetterer.

Lynen doesn't look good in this as he fails to stop Aaronson on two occasions.

51st min: Goal for Union, 1-0.

Aaronson has space on the left and loads Malatini.

His ball in the middle reaches Gosens, whose sharp cross is cleared by Lynen, but Vertessen puts it on.

He nails the ball nicely in the top left corner.

50th min:

Ducksch pulls the ball to the far post, but it's hard to catch, Veljkovic can't head it back into the middle.

49th min:

Deman takes the next corner.

48th min:

It continues.

48th min:

The game is currently interrupted because the thick smoke impairs visibility on the field.

46th min: The Werder fans set off fireworks behind the goal, everything is full of smoke.

Maybe some people don't even notice that Njinmah is suddenly free on the right, moves into the penalty area, lets the approaching Diogo Leite out with a wobble and takes a shot with his left, but is blocked.

Before Ducksch gets the second chance, Schlager blows the whistle - it was said to be offside.

46th min: The second half is underway, referee Schlager gives the game a go again!

4:33 p.m.:

The teams gradually return to the field.

It's about to continue.

4:21 p.m.:

Well, what do we do with this game?

What both teams offer is not a feast for the eyes.

Six yellow cards, few highlights for a long time.

At least: The last quarter of an hour looked a little more determined for both teams.

Weiser hit the post once (23rd), Zetterer saved against Aaronson (45th+1).

Otherwise there is obviously more going on.

4:18 p.m.: ... that's it for the first round!

Daniel Schlager asks to go to the dressing rooms, goals are missing in this game so far.

45.+2:

The following corner brings nothing.

And...

45.+1: Lynen heads the corner back to the edge of the box, where Aaronson takes the ball down with his chest and then shoots from 13 meters.

It's good, but Zetterer does it even better and scratches the ball from the left corner at the expense of a corner!

Great action from both of them!

45th min:

There is a second minute for two minutes.

Addition time begins with a Union corner.

42nd min: Big chance for Union!

Kaufmann goes through to the left and plays flat to Gosens.

Jung is still in between and passes the ball to his goalkeeper.

Important, otherwise this will probably be the first goal of the game.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Union Berlin: Six yellow cards, Werder lacks ideas

41st min:

The first three yellow cards belonged to Union, now Werder have equalized in these statistics.

Ducksch sees yellow for complaining.

39th min:

Counterattack for Werder across the entire field.

Ducksch initially misses the time for the pass in the middle, delays and then actually puts the ball out well to the right to Woltemade.

He could move into the box, but puts the ball back to the pass receiver, who shoots from 20 meters - well over.

38th min:

The next yellow card in this game.

Weiser comes too late against Diogo Leite and hits him in the shin.

He is also suspended for the game against Wolfsburg.

37th min:

Again not confident from Werder.

Malatini could clear on the left corner of the penalty area and Veljkovic also had the chance, but both miss it because they rely on each other.

But Union can't do anything with the unexpected possession of the ball.

35th min:

Deman goes into the duel on the left, moves past his opponent and crosses to Woltemade at the far post.

But the ball is a little too far.

Missed the chance.

32nd min:

A counterattack runs in return, but Aaronson spoils it with a pass that was far too hard to Vertessen.

Lynen gets a yellow card for the scene because he tried to stop the counterattack with a foul.

Lynen is therefore suspended against Wolfsburg in two weeks.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Union Berlin: Lots of duels, little constructive

31st min:

Zetterer intercepts a cross and initiates the counterattack via Woltemade.

He first plays out to Njinmah, who then passes the ball to the left side to Stage.

He tries a lob to the right into the penalty area, but it doesn't reach.

30th min:

It's going to be a card game.

Tousart sees yellow, he is one step too late against Lynen.

30th min:

Aaronson goes into a duel against Lynen in the penalty area, gets past, but Werder clears and even gets a goal kick.

29th min:

Deman just passes a long ball to Kaufmann.

27th min:

The next yellow card for Union.

Gosens comes a step too late against Weiser and completely knocks over the right-back.

Right decision.

26th min:

Ducksch takes the free kick to the five-pointer, Rönnow easily plucks it out of the air.

26th min:

Woltemade takes a free kick deep in the opponent's half on the left side, and Vogt is also shown a yellow card.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Union Berlin: Post!

Mitchell Weiser misses a huge opportunity!

23rd min: And suddenly a huge opportunity for Werder!

Woltemade quickly takes a free kick and serves Weiser, who is completely free, puts the ball on his left and shoots.

Doekhi throws himself in at the last moment and deflects the ball slightly.

It goes to the outside post!

Tight box!

22nd min:

It's still tough stuff so far.

Union continues to be more active, but ineffective in the game going forward.

Werder completely ineffective.

Possession of the ball for the green and white?

None.

19th min:

The first corner is harmless, but Trimmel gets the second chance.

The cross is better, Woltemade has to work hard at the far post to clear.

18th min:

Bremen's uncertainty continues.

Deman plays a back pass to Zetterer from 30 meters, who slips the ball over his feet and rolls out of the goal.

That gives Union a corner.

16th min:

Kaufmann's biggest opponent in his next scene is the pitch.

He has a bit of space on the right near the penalty area, but a hole in the grass causes the ball to bounce, so his attempted cross fails and goes out of the goal.

14th min:

The next stick error, this time from Malatini, brings Union a throw-in without necessity.

13th min:

Neither team has a clear advantage here, but Union seems a little more determined and alert than the guests in this initial phase.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Union Berlin: bumpy start for unsettled Bremen

12th min:

Long ball from the right halffield sharply in front of the Werder goal, but Zetterer is there and grabs it safely in the six-meter area.

8th min:

Njinmah makes a diagonal pass with his head in the middle, but no teammate can reach it.

The ball goes back straight away, Malatini has the upper hand in the aerial duel and heads it back to Zetterer.

6th min:

Aaronson and Trimmel play through a one-two on Werder's left defense, Trimmel brings the ball into the middle, but Werder clears.

4th min:

Lynen plays a back pass to Zetterer, who stops the ball, but then touches it with his supporting leg and stumbles.

But he gets the ball under control before the goal line.

3rd min:

Lynen loses the ball to Kaufmann 30 meters from his own goal.

He has two options for passing, but shoots himself from 25 meters.

The first attempt gets stuck before the penalty area, but comes back.

Then he plays a bad pass.

Take a breath.

2nd min:

Weiser drives the ball down the line from the back right and then plays it out to the right to Njinmah.

The ball doesn't arrive.

Ducksch on the left would have been freer.

1st min:

Werder plays in the black and green away jerseys, Union Berlin in all red. Both teams initially have their fans behind them.

Werder Bremen im Liveticker gegen Union Berlin: Der Ball rollt an der Alten Försterei

FC Union Berlin. So geht Trainer Ole Werner die Bundesliga-Partie des 26. Spieltags an.

FC Union Berlin aussehen!

Werder Bremen gegen Union Berlin im Liveticker: Beide Teams verloren ihre letzten beiden Bundesliga-Spiele

And reason number two:

Union Berlin

has now left behind the sporting decline that accompanied the team for a long time and pushed it deep into the bottom of the table, but recently lost twice in a row against the top teams from Dortmund and Stuttgart.

What exactly

will the reaction be against

Werder Bremen ?

Remains to be seen.

“Their situation is similar to ours, because they didn't do great in terms of results in the last two games either,” says

Ole Werner

, whose Bremen team recently failed to score points against Hoffenheim and Dortmund twice in a row and now everything at the Alte Försterei want to do so that after the game we don't have to talk about a series of defeats.

With currently 30 points in their account,

Werder Bremen,

currently tenth in the table, should at least cautiously look up again with a win at 14th Union Berlin, towards the places that could become really valuable at the end of the season.

But probably only then.

Otherwise, a placement in the middle of the table would be cemented for the time being.

On the other hand, the lead over the relegation place is still comfortable with twelve points at the moment.

Already read?

This is how fans can see the Bundesliga game Werder Bremen against Union Berlin live on TV and in the live stream!

SV Werder Bremen against 1. FC Union Berlin in the live ticker: Ole Werner first played at the Alte Försterei

Of course, it has n't gone unnoticed by

Ole Werner

that

Union Berlin

is now much more solid than it was in the disastrous first half of the season, when the team was at the bottom of the league.

“Overall, it’s the Union Berlin we know again.

They defend extremely well and don’t allow much,” says Werner.

They have also “rediscovered” their strength in terms of standards, which has long characterized the capital city team.

All of this awaits

Werder Bremen

on Saturday at the Alte Försterei, where things are traditionally extremely atmospheric.

“You can only win something there with a united team performance, good energy on the pitch and good sharpness in direct duels,” says Werner, who

has played for

Union Berlin once in his career.

Last year the Werder coach and his team suffered a 0-1 defeat in Köpenick.
