The away jersey of the German national team for the home European Championships in 2024 is causing a lot of discussion.
The DFB takes a stand on Instagram.
Frankfurt am Main – It is an unusual color choice that the German Football Association (DFB) and supplier Adidas have made for the 2024 European Championship in their own country.
Germany jersey at EM 2024: A lot of shitstorm on social networks
Pink and purple will be the away jersey of the German national soccer team for the European Championship at the European Championship venues between Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich.
And that is causing a lot of discussion on social media.
The DFB and Adidas responded to a real shitstorm on social networks with a video posting on Instagram on Sunday (March 17th).
In the post, the word “no” was crossed out and explained: “This is our Germany jersey.”
It also said: “New color for Germany – why not?” Curious: Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry (both FC Bayern) can be seen in the video – neither of them were selected for the international matches in France (March 23rd) and against the Netherlands (March 26) nominated.
So did the DFB shoot the video in advance?
At the last international matches in autumn?
Speculation.
It is surprising that players are shown who are not currently in the DFB squad for the European Championship tests before Easter.
So were the jersey manufacturers and the association already expecting critical comments about the dress?
German European Championship jersey: DFB and Adidas justify selection
Critical posts from social media are shown in the video.
For example: “Nobody wants that jersey.” Or: “What is that supposed to be?
A fashion piece?” The German national players then respond to the theses presented.
Thomas Müller, for example, said: “This is not a jersey for legends.”

Whereupon Florian Wirtz from Bundesliga table leader Bayer Leverkusen says: "Yes, it is It.” Goretzka and Gnabry, who were not nominated for the international matches against France and the Netherlands, are also included in the credits.

DFB team wears purple and pink at EM 2024: Also a lot of support for the jersey
Remarkable: By midnight on Sunday, the post had already received over 145,000 likes.
That's not all: Among other things, the Bavarian actor Marcus Mittermeier wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “How well the DFB team and Adidas anticipated the shitstorm against the jersey.
The repost sits.
I like it a lot and the jersey is getting more and more beautiful.” It is not yet clear when it will be worn at the 2024 European Championships (schedule).
