Trabzon – Turkish football is once again rocked by a scandal.
Just around three months after a club president attacked referee Halil Umut Meler, there were fights on the pitch following Trabzonspor's duel with Fenerbahce on Sunday evening (March 17).

Previously, second-placed Fenerbahce beat third-placed Trabzon 3-2 in a heated game.
Former BVB striker Michi Batshuayi scored the winning goal in the 87th minute.
In total, Meler, who also refereed this game, handed out nine yellow cards - all in the second half.
According to media reports, objects flew onto the pitch during the game.
After the final whistle, things got completely wild in the Papara Park Stadyumu.

Storming and brawls after Fenerbahce's win in Trabzon
Dozens of Trabzon supporters stormed the pitch where the Fener players were still celebrating the victory.
The team and staff of the Istanbul guests were attacked with punches or sometimes threatened with corner flags.
Various videos are circulating on the X
platform
that show a scene in which Fenerbahce defender Bright Osey-Samuel hits a masked person.
He can only be held back with difficulty by fellow players and hopelessly overwhelmed stewards.
Other clips show winning scorer Batshuayi performing a kung fu kick against a man sprinting across the pitch.

The association has now also reacted to the escalation in northeast Turkey.
“We are in contact with our representatives and state authorities regarding the incidents that occurred during and after the match between Trabzonspor AS and Fenerbahçe AS in the Trendyol Super League.
What happened in football, which is a game of friendship, peace and brotherhood, is never acceptable,” said a statement released on Monday.
It was also emphasized that “once the investigation is completed, the necessary criminal sanctions will be imposed on those responsible for the incidents.”
There was initially no official communication from the two clubs.
