The partner of tennis player Arina Savalanka, former ice hockey player Konstantin Koltsov, died tonight (between Monday and Tuesday) at the age of 42. The cause of his death has not yet been announced and the first announcement was made by the Russian hockey team Slavat Yuliev, where he served as an assistant coach.
The tennis player's father, Sergey Savalenko, was himself an ice hockey player and he passed away suddenly in 2019, at the age of 44.
Koltsov died in Miami, where Savalenko was preparing for the prestigious tennis tournament.
He accompanied the world number 2 to many tournaments, including the Australian Championship which she won about two months ago.
The Belarusian became known in recent years as Savalanka's partner, but was a well-known athlete himself.
He played three years for the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, won titles in the Russian Hockey League and represented the Belarus national team 67 times, including two Winter Olympics.

Koltsov divorced in 2020 from his wife and mother of his three children, Yulia.
A few months later, Savalanka started posting photos of herself together with the former hockey player who was 17 years older than her, and some of the reactions on social networks were venomous, calling her a "breakup of families."
