The ÖSV is setting up a task force on climate change.
Innsbruck – At the Austrian Ski Association, preparations for the Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach from February 4th to 16th, 2025 are in full swing.

Felix Neureuther part of the “Future:Focus:Ski/Snowboard Sports” task force
The former German ski racer is part of a newly created task force which, in addition to Neureuther, consists of former ÖSV star Benni Raich as well as President Roswitha Stadlober, Secretary General Christian Scherer and important representatives from business.
The task force operates under the name “Future:Focus:Ski/Snowboard Sport”.
Neureuther is one of the most prominent voices in skiing in favor of a more sustainable sport.
The 39-year-old wants to stimulate a discussion with some of his insertions in order to make winter sports more sustainable and adapt to climatic changes.
“This is how skiing is vulnerable,” said Neureuther in an interview with
IPPEN.MEDIA
about what he considered to be too early a start to the alpine season.

Felix Neureuther should help: “Maintain the importance of skiing and snowboarding”
“Climate change is particularly visible in winter sports and we also see social change,” notes ÖSV President Stadlober, according to the news platform
aktuell.at
.
“We want to maintain the importance of skiing and snowboarding in society.
Austria is crazy about skiing.” We must therefore ask ourselves important questions about the future and, in particular, introduce young people more closely to winter sports.
As a result of his commitment, Neureuther also recently complained about the Winter Games in Asia, which will take place in Saudi Arabia in 2029.
In winter the temperature there is on average between 25 and 35 degrees.
In an interview with Die
Zeit
, Neureuther could hardly contain himself: “The plans for this World Cup in Saudi Arabia are absolutely perverse, absurd and completely out of date.”
