The DFB had to listen to a lot from the fans and even some politicians.
The fact that the traditional German company, which had linked generations of players and fans to the DFB, will be replaced by a US manufacturer from 2027 was not well received.
Although the deal, which is supposed to bring 100 million euros into the cash-strapped football association's coffers per year (currently only half), there is absolutely no alternative from an economic perspective.
Germany demanded in France: inspiring football as the top mission
With all the discussions, some supporters may now feel reminded of the 2022 World Cup, three months before the start of the European Football Championship in Germany.
Back then it was hardly about the sport - in the end they were embarrassingly eliminated in the group phase.
Of course, you want to avoid such a scenario at a big tournament in your own country.
Above all, this requires inspiring football - and ideally in the March international matches against France and the Netherlands (Tuesday).

How will national coach Julian Nagelsmann line up the DFB team against France?
His framework, including for the European Championships, has long been in place.
Therefore, there should hardly be any surprises in the starting line-up on Saturday evening in Lyon.
Nagelsmann had called up six newcomers, four are left: The Stuttgart block of Deniz Undav, Maximilian Mittelstädt, who will start on the left alongside the new regular central defense of Jonathan Tah and Antonio Rüdiger, and Waldemar Anton, plus Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim.
Less than three months before the European Championship opener against Scotland (June 14th), this is a surprising amount of “breath of fresh air,” as Nagelsmann calls it.
