DFB switch from Adidas to Nike has economic reasons
Nike will be a partner of German football at least until 2034 and will not only equip the senior national teams, but also the junior teams.
The change probably has primarily economic reasons that led the DFB to make this decision.
According to the press release, the US sporting goods manufacturer “made by far the best economic offer.” Financially, the highest German football association is considered to be struggling.
From 2027, the DFB will be equipped by Nike – the right decision?

Nike instead of Adidas at the DFB: Announced shortly after the jersey presentation
The timing of the DFB's announcement is somewhat surprising.
Only shortly before, the association, together with its long-standing partner Adidas, released the jerseys for the upcoming European Football Championship in their own country.
The purple and pink jersey in particular caused a lot of excitement, but at the same time broke sales records.
The corresponding advertising video was again almost universally well received and sparked the first small amount of hype for the European Championships.
The German national team is setting up its European Championship headquarters in Herzogenaurach - of all places where Adidas also comes from.
A partnership between Adidas and DFB that has lasted over 70 years will end in three years
However, this is no coincidence.
National coach Julian Nagelsmann's team will train on Adidas' so-called home ground and prepare for the games in the tournament.
At the same time, the sporting decision-makers apparently knew nothing about the upcoming change in supplier.
There was also criticism of the decision from politicians, especially since Germany was equipped by Adidas for all World and European Championship titles.
The DFB jerseys from Adidas undoubtedly have a great tradition that will end in 2027 – for now.
