The Ferrari driver has just succeeded in his incredible bet: returning to a Formula 1 single-seater just two weeks after his appendicitis operation.
But the Spaniard did much better this Sunday by triumphing in the Australian Grand Prix.
But how did he do it?
We left him on the evening of Thursday March 7 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Ferrari driver had just experienced “the most difficult day” of his F1 career.
Feeling “sick” with “stomach pains”, Sainz still finished the first day of free practice at the wheel of his car.
