“I am incredibly grateful for everything I have experienced in my career.

It was an intense but also very nice time,” said Seidel.

“I would especially like to thank my family, my trainers and my partners and sponsors.

Without this great support I wouldn’t have gotten this far.”

The two-time European Championship runner-up in 2021 will not be returning to the ice, her management announced on Sunday.

The 25-year-old took a break from competitive sports last summer, and now the three-time Olympian has announced her retirement.

The 22-year-old NHL crack won the silver medal with Germany at last year's Ice Hockey World Cup.

It was initially not known what plans Seidel would pursue in the United States in the future.
