The Ferrari double

The first since Bahrain in 2022. So two years the Scuderia has been waiting for this moment and it will take advantage of it.

Winner, Carlos Sainz delivered a real

masterclass

.

He had overtaken Max Verstappen, before the latter retired, on the second lap with the DRS.

Then his pace was incredible, often a second faster than the competition.

He achieved a third career success and restarted his season, having been absent in Saudi Arabia since he had undergone appendicitis.

Finally, a word about Charles Leclerc, studious second, who managed his races well and used his muscles to resist Sergio Perez after his second stop.

From the blackboard.

McLaren scores big points

The second force on the board in Australia.

Without really threatening the Ferraris, the McLarens scored big points in Melbourne (27) with Lando Norris' third place and Oscar Piastri's fourth.

The Briton tried to put pressure on Leclerc at times, without success, but the orange cars took third place among the manufacturers after this round.

Haas in the points

July 2022. This is the last time both Haas were in the points.

Almost two years later, the American team is smiling.

Very fast in a straight line, the Haas were a real pain in the ass for the peloton.

Nico Hulkenberg took ninth place, ahead of his teammate Kevin Magnussen (10th).

Three points scored at the finish which will count later in the season.

Flops

Verstappen stopped by his brakes

Three laps is the duration of the Australian race for Max Verstappen.

The “King”, victim of a rear brake problem, was forced to retire to the delight of the competition.

After a controlled start, the Dutchman lost the lead on the second lap, overtaken by Sainz with the DRS, and then the retirement occurred.

The first since Australia 2022...two years then.

A rarity.

The Austrian brand is therefore content with a modest fifth place from Sergio Perez.

Far from the results of the first two races.

Mercedes out of the picture

Difficult weekend for Mercedes and the seven-time world champion.

Exited in Q2 on Saturday (11th time) and again beaten by George Russell in qualifying, Lewis Hamilton retired on the 17th lap after a loss of power in his Mercedes.

The Briton is in difficulty at the start of the season.

Zero points for the German brand since Russell smashed his car into the wall at the end of the race while he was fighting for sixth place.

One-Turn Alpine

New Grand Prix in anonymity for the Blues.

Dumped in qualifying, the French did not perform miracles in the race on Sunday.

Pierre Gasly managed to finish 13th while Esteban Ocon finished 16th.

The two Alpines are still as far away and finished one lap behind the leader...We hope for the best in Japan in two weeks.
