Former German boxing world champion Alesia Graf has died at the age of 43.

Boxing star Regina Halmich is deeply dismayed.

Hamburg – The boxing world mourns the loss of former boxing world champion Alesia Graf.

The German with Belarusian roots died at the age of 43.

Her friend, the long-time boxing world champion Regina Halmich, says an emotional farewell.

"I'm shocked and stunned.

You were not only a training partner and world champion, but also a friend,” writes Halmich on Instagram alongside a picture of the two boxers together on the red carpet.

RIP Alesia,” said Halmich’s moving words.

Actually, she could tell so many more “stories about you, what made you stand out and how special you were,” Halmich continues, but at the moment she is not in a position to do so.

Boxing star Halmich mourns the loss of her former colleague Alesia Graf

Graf came to Germany in 1999 and has been in the ring at bantamweight since 2001.

In 2008 she received German citizenship.

Initially as an amateur boxer, she won the title of International German Champion in 2003.

She then received an offer from the Hamburg boxing stable Universum Boxpromotion and from then on worked as a professional boxer.

Under her fighting name “The Tigress” she won the GBU world championship title in February 2006 and the important WIBF world championship title in March 2008, which Halmich also held from 1995 to 2007.

In September 2010 she missed the WBC world title with a defeat against the Mexican Ana Maria Torres.

She finally ended her career in 2019.

She won 26 of a total of 29 fights.
