The DFB victory makes the mood in the ZDF studio rise.
There was actually only disagreement over the name of Marc-André ter Stegen.
Lyon – As a presenter duo, Günter Netzer and Gerhard Delling probably left the biggest footprints in football broadcasts in Germany over the last three decades.
Since 2020, Per Mertesacker and Christoph Kramer have formed the expert duo alongside changing moderators, and will remain so at least until the 2024 European Championship.
Together they not only provide razor-sharp analysis, but also provide appropriate entertainment value - even if they don't always agree.
Kramer makes it clear: “You don’t call him Marc-André”
The analysis in the ZDF sports studio after the 2-0 win against France initially focused on Florian Wirtz's lightning goal and the return of Toni Kroos.
But the defensive behavior of the DFB team in connection with not conceding a goal was also positively highlighted.
Per Mertesacker also praised the performance of Neuer representative Marc-André ter Stegen: “Outstanding from Marc-André in goal today, who really proved today that he is a great support, no matter what happens and of course we rely on him too being able to leave.
That’s why it was a very, very important signal for me today.”
While Mertesacker continued speaking, moderator Jochen Breyer and Christoph Kramer had to hold back their laughter.
When asked by Breyer, Kramer revealed what he found so funny: “Because Per den ter Stegen calls him Marc-André.
Well, that's his name, but it sounds kind of strange." When asked if that wasn't his first name, Kramer replied: "Yes, but you don't call him Marc-André, so please."
Even during Per Mertesacker's remarks, Christoph Kramer couldn't help but laugh.

In order not only to complain about other people's mistakes, Kramer also fulfilled his service mandate and presented the appropriate speech for ter Stegen.
“Marc or ter Stegen, but not Marc-André.” The Gladbacher should know, because in the 2013/14 season he played together with Marc-André ter Stegen for the Foals.

Mertesacker took the whole situation with humor but refrained from replying.
It wouldn't have been the first humorous exchange between the two experts.
During the 2022 World Cup, they teased each other to the amusement of the audience.
