The great biathlon talent Martin Bourgeois République has announced the end of his career.
The 24-year-old does not provide any information about the reasons.
Munich – Martin Bourgeois République was once considered a huge talent who had what it takes to become a future biathlon star.
But nothing came of it.
The Frenchman has now announced that he will end his career at the age of 24.
He will compete in one last race and then it will be over.
Biathlon ace ends career at just 24 years old
In 2023 there were already small hints of a resignation.
“I want to reach 100% of my true potential for as long as I can achieve it.
That’s why I’m doing it again this year to see how far I can go,” Bourgeois République told
Nordic Magazine at the time.
So now the decision to end my career.
“This weekend I will put on my bib number one last time as a biathlete.
I achieved my childhood dream by becoming Junior World Champion in 2019, a moment that will stay with me forever.
I will remember the great races, the challenges, the fights, the learning and every moment I pushed myself to the limit.
These experiences shaped me and taught me a lot,” he wrote on his Instagram account.

“Many thanks to my friends for these ten years of biathlon, thank you for the memories, the laughter and the challenges we took on together.
I am excited about the new opportunities that will present themselves to me.
Big things are waiting for me and I am ready to take on new challenges with the same determination,” he continued.
Career of huge biathlon talent stalled
The Frenchman did not comment on the reasons that led him to resign immediately, thus posing a mystery.
It is also unclear what will happen next for the Frenchman.

Martin Bourgeois République was able to win the individual gold medal in the 2019 Junior World Championships and also medals in the relay and pursuit.
However, his career then stalled.
The 24-year-old was mainly used in the second-class IBU Cup, where he only managed a top ten placement once.
He never competed in a World Cup race.
In addition to him, Chloé Bened also ended her career at a young age.
