After ten years in the Biathlon World Cup, an Italian is now hanging up her skis.
After a few setbacks, she finally switched to cross-country skiing.
Vipiteno – The next big name is finally leaving the biathlon stage: Federica Sanfilippo is ending her career in the World Cup after more than ten years.
However, the Italian also had to suffer setbacks and was eliminated from the Italian team twice.
That's why she was recently active in cross-country skiing - but that's now over too.

Italian Sanfilippo ends winter sports career
“Every new beginning comes from the end of another beginning.
Sunday will be my last race in my career.
I would like to thank everyone who helped me make this trip so beautiful.
We’ll see each other again soon,” writes Sanfilippo on social networks about a picture that shows her in ski gear at a young age.
The resignation announcement includes numerous messages from former companions.
“Congratulations on everything,” writes five-time Olympic biathlon champion Martin Fourcade.
The German cross-country skier and Olympic champion Victoria Carl writes: “It was so nice to spend time with you.
I'll miss you!".
Her good friend Dorothea Wierer, who is considering retiring from biathlon herself, also commented on the post with four hearts.
Biathlon and cross-country skiing: Italian Sanfilippo announces end of career
The South Tyrolean native will contest her last race on Sunday, March 24th, in cross-country skiing.
She announced her switch from biathlon to cross-country skiing at the beginning of 2023.
Previously, she had not been nominated for the home World Cup in Antholz and was therefore once again excluded from the national team.
Sanfilippo was able to achieve considerable success in her biathlon career.
She was on the winner's podium a total of eight times - seven times as part of relays, once alone in the sprint.
With the women's relay she celebrated two World Cup victories in Hochfilzen (2015 and 2018).
In the future she will work as a biathlon trainer in the police sports group.
However, your active career ends.
In her biathlon retirement, she could be joined by Benedikt Doll, who will also hang up his skis after the season.
