“I am incredibly grateful for everything I have experienced in my career.
It was an intense but also very nice time,” said Seidel.
“I would especially like to thank my family, my trainers and my partners and sponsors.
Without this great support I wouldn’t have gotten this far.”
The two-time European Championship runner-up in 2021 will not be returning to the ice, her management announced on Sunday.
The 25-year-old took a break from competitive sports last summer, and now the three-time Olympian has announced her retirement.
For a year now, only private snapshots have been visible on her Instagram account; the last picture of Seidel in a racing suit on runners was from the Short Track World Championships in Seoul, South Korea, in March 2023.
