FC Bayern is looking for a successor to Thomas Tuchel.

There are several candidates on the list.

We give an overview of the possible trainers.

1 / 9Xabi Alonso is considered the absolute top candidate to succeed Tuchel in the summer.

There is said to have already been contact.

The Leverkusen coach could challenge FC Bayern for the championship and then move to Munich, where the former midfielder ended his career in 2017 after three years in the FCB jersey.

2 / 9Since his interlude at Tottenham (November 2021 to March 2023), Antonio Conte has been without a job.

The southern Italian had previously coached Inter Milan, Chelsea FC and – quite successfully – Juventus Turin.

With “Juve” he won the Scudetto three times between 2012 and 2014, and Conte also became Italian champion with Internazionale (2021).

The Italian newspaper Repubblica reported that Conte was at the top of Bayern's candidate list.

3 / 9A return of Julian Nagelsmann to FC Bayern would be “something very special,” according to Lothar Matthäus.

There are actually arguments for this scenario: Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic, the people who were responsible for Nagelsmann's expulsion, are no longer in office.

It's no secret that Herbert Hainer, for example, was taken by surprise back then.

Uli Hoeneß also explicitly spoke afterwards of a “mistake”.

If Nagelsmann were to be brought back, FC Bayern would have to openly admit a mistake.

There are also scheduling difficulties: Nagelsmann could probably start at a new club late due to the European Championships.

4 / 9According to the Italian sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport, there is already contact between Zinédine Zidane and FC Bayern.

According to Sportbild, the three-time world footballer's involvement in Munich is out of the question because he wants to coach a club whose language he speaks.

For the Frenchman, who is considered the long-term successor to France's national coach Didier Deschamps, a stint in the Bavarian capital would be the first coaching position since he left Real Madrid in 2021. As coach of the "Royal", he won the Spanish title twice in two terms in office, among other things Championship and the Champions League three times.

5 / 9Roberto de Zerbi, who plays successful and respectable football with Brighton & Hove Albion, is said to be very popular with Max Eberl.

According to Sport Bild, it should represent a kind of plan B if the Alonso signing doesn't work out.

However, the Italian would probably not be cheap; according to the English Telegraph, he has an exit clause of 14 million euros.

Then there is the language barrier, although this is not an exclusion criterion for Bayern.

6 / 9Hansi Flick was coach at FC Bayern from November 2019 to June 2021.

As Sport Bild reported, the Bayern bosses are looking into a possible return campaign for the ex-coach.

In the 2019/20 season, the Baden native won the Champions League, the championship and the DFB Cup as well as the national and international Supercup with the Munich team.

In September 2023, Flick was fired as national coach.

7 / 9According to AZ, Arne Slot is said to be a candidate at FC Bayern.

The coach led Feyenoord Rotterdam to its first championship since 2017 last season and was named Coach of the Year in the Netherlands in both 2022 and 2023.

His contract runs until 2026. When asked about the Bayern rumors, he replied: “I can’t really answer that.

But it’s nice that I’m on a list.” © IMAGO / Pro Shots

8 / 9According to Bild, Jose Mourinho is said to be interested in the coaching job at FC Bayern.

The Portuguese star coach is already learning German.

Mourinho won the Champions League with FC Porto (2004) and Inter Milan (2010).

With Porto he also won the UEFA Cup (2003) and with Manchester United in 2017 in the successor competition, the Europa League (2017).

With Chelsea FC, Mourinho became English champion three times (2005, 2006, 2015), with Inter he won the Scudetto twice (2009, 2010) and with Real Madrid the Spanish championship in 2012. © Nicola Ianuale/Imago

9 / 9Joachim Löw has been without a job since summer 2021.

Although he has since been linked to several top clubs, the 64-year-old from Baden has not yet decided to get involved.

However, the long-time national coach (2006 to 2021) is spotted again and again in the Munich Allianz Arena.

An indication?
