The pyrotechnics scandal in the round of 16 of the premier class resulted in a drastic UEFA penalty for FC Bayern. The impact affects the away game against Arsenal.
Munich – FC Bayern will have to start the away trip to Arsenal in the Champions League with a big handicap. A fan ban was imposed for the German record champions for the quarter-final first leg on April 9th in London. The club has now turned to its supporters with words of warning.
UEFA imposes drastic punishment on FC Bayern after pyrotechnics incident
Apart from a small delegation of Bayern officials, no other FCB fans will be seen around the Emirates Stadium, the home of Arsenal FC, as soon as the kick-off sounds in the first leg of the knockout clash in the premier class.
At least that is the hope of FC Bayern, who were given a drastic penalty by UEFA after the Champions League round of 16. The background was the behavior of a “small group of individual perpetrators,” as FCB CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen put it in a club statement, who set off pyrotechnics in the first leg of the round of 16 at Lazio Rome.

In addition to lighting the pyrotechnics, certain people are also said to have thrown objects onto the lawn. UEFA then fined the Munich team 50,750 euros and ordered fans to be banned from the away game against the Gunners.
The penalty is also so high because Bayern's away fans were already under surveillance before the round of 16 incident. Bayern fans had already set off fireworks at the game in Copenhagen in the group phase. UEFA then handed Bayern a suspended sentence.

FC Bayern with an urgent fan appeal
In any case, on April 9th, Munich fans will be denied entry to London. “Arsenal FC has expressly informed FC Bayern that all supporters of the German record champions must be consistently turned away at the entrance to the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on April 9th in London,” FC Bayern said in an official statement.
The club also makes an urgent appeal to its fans: “FC Bayern therefore advises its fans not to organize tickets for this game.”

After UEFA handed down the penalty, Bayern initially explored the options of appealing the verdict. Ultimately, however, the club had to accept the penalty. After the round of 16 success against Lazio, the Munich team is missing important support in the quarter-finals against Arsenal and it is particularly hard on the fans who always behave correctly,” Dreesen is quoted as saying in a statement.
For the second leg in Munich on April 17th, all tickets from regular sales are already sold out. There are still other options for getting the coveted cards.
